"perfect" entry! We just talked about this last night at church! Not so much re homeschooling but re parenting in general. But the more that I let go and let God the better!

Ahhh - Ditch & Switch should have been the names of my first two children!! I went through so much of the same struggle. I finally am coming to a place of resting in who we are, what that means for our family and our schooling.
Sometimes I wrestle with "Oh Lord, why didn't You lead me to this place long before now?" and then I realize a) it's been a GOOD journey and I'm much wiser for it and b)some of us sheep have just a bit more fleece packed around the ole gray matter than the rest.

I started homeschooling in March and have already felt inadequate multiple times because of other moms whose children are in various homeschool groups or taking certain electives outside the home that I truly can't afford.
After hearing a comment from another homeschool mom at a bookstore about how horrible "canned curriculum" is I was ashamed that I had bought one subject in a can. Turns out that my son has really enjoyed learning that subject using that curriculum and has asked if he could try it again next year!
I'm going to try to remember that what is best for one family may not be best for mine.

"Ditch and switch"
That is why I don't look at other curriculums anymore. If there is something better out there, I don't want to know about it. My motto is "If it's not broken, don't fix it."
Having said that, occasionally I will look at something new, but I'm very slow to make sweeping changes.

Thanks for your answer. The part about looking for God's plan for my family is a great and timely reminder.

I think my biggest homeschooling challenge is always feeling like I'm not doing enough. There is always so much to do besides class work - boy scouts, 4H, pottery classes, museums, volunteer work, sports - that we don't get done. We are just too exausted after lessons each day.
