Sometimes meat, sometimes milk, sometimes candy - but always food for thought.
Thanks for the reminder, Spunky.

Thanks for sharing. Funny how God does that. Just when you think you have it all figured out he changes the directions. I guess God doesn't really expect us to figure it all out - he just wants us to enjoy the ride...with Him in the driver seat of course.

Thank you Spunky. These last couple days have been filled with many signs of God working in our lives. I have felt almost overwhelmed with our schedule. I started School just as soon as the public schools. And actually as much as I enjoyed my schedule being met, I also thought why am I pushing so much. Yesterday God really worked on my heart. And I really felt my home needed to get into order. Then I and all three kids came down with DH's cold. So today I have taken a step back and been reading writing online. What a blessing your writing was to read today. Thank you for sharing.

And the amazing thing is, more and more peace has descended upon our household as we've all fully realized the beauty of not officially beginning "school" until October.
And yet, today we have discussed life in Greece, why Bill Watterson retired from writing Calvin and Hobbes, road rage, how the people at Nestle get the chocolate into the bottom of a Drumstick, and the year my in-laws were married. Is this not education?
But...but...

I like starting now because right now our family needs STRUCTURE like you wouldn't believe. Too much fun this summer made for some sloppy habits and getting out of whack with discipline.
However...I'm a huge proponent of DO WHAT YOU CAN WHEN YOU CAN and like I've told you the #1 reason we homeschool is that we can pick up anytime we want, head to the beach, and school there!
So flexibility is wayyyy key!!! Thank you for reminding us of that.

I hear you Lindsey, there is a balance. I guess the trick is to be flexibibly in our structure. Sort of like how they build skyscrapers. They have a structure but they also build in a "sway" to that the building isn't to rigid. I don't know if that's the right term for it but you get the idea.

My heart just swelled reading this. I don't belong to your denomination, Spunky, but I felt the Spirit reading your post. (Feels funny to be writing that in a blog forum, but I thought you should know.) Thank you for your testimony of Christ.

Or He may just ask you to pack up the curriculum and take it with you to Bucharest, Romania! Talk about studying another culture up close and personal.
We actually school year-round. That eliminates that Sept rush feeling. We are already cruising to around week 9 when everyone else is gearing up. I enjoy taking lots of week or two week breaks all year!
Thanks for this blog. We just found it and it feels great to connect with an American with similiar views of home and family.

This post was such a blessing to me today, Spunky.
We are very likely looking forward to a move in the next few weeks. While it is somewhat exciting we have also just gotten into the swing of things this school year and we have a baby due in three weeks. I have been thinking nothing but, "but", for days now . But what about our school routine... But what about our "babymoon"...But...
Thank you for this timely encouragement, it will be tough BUT... I will trust in the Lord and allow Him to direct my paths...
Blessings,
Shelby

Wow, Spunky. That was a terrific post. Thank you for sharing that story. I long for the day when I will our son say things like that -- to know that he finally realizes that God's love is for him, too. Somedays, I think he's catching on, but most of the time, if we even hint at asking how something applies to him, it is meant with fierce resistance. God open his heart.......
