You're so right, Spunky.
My son says often that he's a "parent in training" or an "adult in training". I love his perspective. I've learned from him that yes, our kids are adults/parents in training. Even the youngest one.
Thank you for this post.

Hi Spunky,
I ran into you at The Old Schoolhouse booth in Columbus and have been meaning to drop you a line.
It is so funny that my wife and I just returned from a Classical Conversations "Parent Information Night" tonight where we presented on these 3 stages of learning, and then I read this post.
We took those 3 stages and applied them to scrapbooking, since that was a hobby of the moms there. But I really like your idea of applying it to parenting. That opens up a lot of avenues for thought. It's a little late to rev up my thinking engine, but hopefully I'll remember this in the morning and give it some more thought.
Hope to see you again.

Hi Tad,
I remember you from CHEO as well. Later in our practicum we applied the educational grid and stages of learning to the topic of dating. That was so interesting to all the participants. The conversastion got a bit heavy for a few minutes, but we all realized that it is in thinking through these topics that we can learn so much more and communicate more effectively.
