Gravatar Sarah Palin hasn't appeared yet out here in the west, but from what I've read so far (gotta love the internet), she really nails it.

Gravatar The live stream on the RNC site must be slow, I still have Guilliani.

zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Gravatar Did you see Piper smooth down the baby's hair? She was holding him, rubbing his hair, trying to get it to stay down. It wouldn't. She lifted her palm, LICKED the entire thing, then wiped it over his head. Oh man...I thought I would pass out laughing!!!!

Sarah did a great job.

Gravatar Piper is adorable. She looked like she was enjoying the entire night almost as if she was the nominee. I saw her lick her hand too and then smooth down the baby's hair. Ha, ha!

As for the speech, I found it interesting that with all the talk of Palin being a pro-life pick, signalling that the GOP is moving more to the conservative right, I didn't hear anything regarding the life/abortion issue. Except for noting that parents of special needs children will have an advocate in the White House there was nothing on having an advocate to fight for the life of the unborn.

Gravatar the little girl licking the hand and smoothing down the baby's hair was my favorite part of the whole night.

Gravatar I missed that. I was helping my daughter with her biology homework as I was watching this.

I guess I'm not as good multi-tasking as I thought. I'm sure it will be on You Tube shortly though.

Denise, noticed the absence of talk about abortion. I wondered about that, but then I thought her life and her choices (and her daughter's choice) speak louder than words ever could.

Gravatar I think you're right about her life and her choices speaking louder than words. She hit the notes that needed to be hit tonight. There's plenty of time for words.
I'm still not excited about McCain, but I think at least now I can vote.

Gravatar For those that may have missed it, I posted the You Tube of Piper Palin and her baby brother in the post. It's priceless.

Gravatar Watched the whole speech. It wasn't just her words that were compelling, it was her delivery. She's very natural and connects with her audience.
I think more highly of McCain not only for his choice of VP, but standing up for Sarah during these last few days while the media attacked her and her family so viciously.
Wolf Blizter of CNN couldn't offer his commentary after Sarah's speech until he could "digest" it. I guess she left him speechless.

Gravatar Oh, thanks for posting that. I watched it again twice. So funny! I think Sarah saw it. She lost her composure for just a minute there.

Gravatar Yeah, I told my son that she (Sarah Palin) must be a good mom, or Todd must be a good dad, or something. I'm positive I couldn't get my youngest, age 7, to behave as well as Piper did. The camera must have panned to the family, especially baby Trig and Piper, 30 or more times before, during and after the speech. and each time Piper was a perfect little lady, except for when she became a perfect little mommy fixing the baby's hair.

Gravatar I thought the speech was great!! :0)

I also laughed at what Piper did. I thought that showed the love and dedication of the family.

Gravatar Big mistake to attack community organizers and claim that they have no responsibilities. It sounded elitist and that is going to come back to haunt the McCain/Palin campaign.

Community organizers are the backbone of all cities ... large or small. They are the ones in the trenches, doing the dirty work, working with people, weeping with people.

BTW, though it was a good soundbite, Huckabee's statement comparing vote counts was not correct.

Gravatar Hubby and I agree that Piper licking her hand and smoothing the baby's hair was adorable! Definately the best part of the night.

Sarah was great, but I'm still an undecided voter...

Gravatar "Big mistake to attack community organizers and claim that they have no responsibilities. It sounded elitist and that is going to come back to haunt the McCain/Palin campaign."

I think that most people aren't that senstive and feel insulted by these remarks. If Obama uses them, it will only highlight his own community service and his association with people like William Ayres and his Michelle Obama's "community service" with a huge salary attached to it. I hope Obama picks this battle, it will be fun to watch.

Gravatar I wasn't impressed with the speech at all. She was supposed to show how she is qualified to run a country and she kept talking about the PTA, motherhood, and hockey.

She also acted as though not being a part of the establishment was so wonderful but it also shows she has no idea of the inner workings of Washington or what she will be up against.

I also thought it was bit early to be bashing the other side before we even know if SHE has any substance. As if the guts she must have to bash other people (pitt bull) she doesn't know should qualify her in itself.

Whatever.

Gravatar "She also acted as though not being a part of the establishment was so wonderful but it also shows she has no idea of the inner workings of Washington or what she will be up against."

To some voters, it is. And this week she found out all about the inner workings of Washington - at least as far as what they really think about successful women. Feminists should be claiming victory, but instead they feel threatened. Palin makes them so irrelevant. It's the establishment that appears to not know what they're up against.

Gravatar The picture of Piper smoothing down her brother's hair was precious. The thing is, the camera didn't have to televise it. Was the camera director a Republican? Was there someone up there saying - oh! go to that shot! It should make a great point! Also, cute babies tend to get passed around from person to person - it's not a pre-meditated stunt that they were planning. It just happens! Especially with Baby #5. It doesn't matter if he had down syndrome or not - he's cute and people want to hold him!

Gravatar Beth, I remember when my sixth was born. If it weren't for nursing, I don't think I would have held her at all the first five months. Seeing the Palin's family reminded me of how blessed and privileged we really are to have children and knowing that our own children share this joy makes it extra special. The idea that a family could actually enjoy their family and their siblings is foreign concept to a lot of people.

Gravatar When the media was bashing them because the older kids were holding Trig, I thought...

Uh, that's normal in a family. TRY to get the baby away from the older kids. Just try!

Gravatar Threatened?
Well, yes if her real but carefully hidden governing agenda is to restrict our secular rights as deviating from her pastor's pronouncements of "God's plan". . .

Gravatar As opposed to Rev. Wrights agenda to "D..M" all of us in America. I don't think Democrats want to get into a war of pastors. Obama successfully wiped Wright off the news cycle, bringing up Palin's religion will only remind everyone that the Obamas sat in Wrights Church for 20 years and quoted him as a mentor in his book.
