Thank you for the wonderful resources. I can definitely see how 'living' books would make learning more enjoyable. I can just look at it from my standpoint and how much more I enjoy reading those type of books and then just by chance I learn along the way! Why haven't we figured this out for our children yet??? Thanks again!

I've found a new favorite blog! Thank you, Spunky!
Karen emailed me this post, and it was excellent. I'm just now discovering "living books" and I did have a question about using them.
We currently use My Father's World curriculum, a lesser known one that has a Charlotte Mason/Classical/Unit Study approach (my three favorite I could never decide between ). Now, if I have my son read The Incredible Journey, for example, when we study about North American this year in our geography curriculum, do I read it ahead of time and pull out reading comprehension questions and vocabulary words? That's how I remember reading books for class in school.
Any suggestions? Am I just missing something obvious? I do make him narrate the story back to me, but I honestly don't feel like I'd have time to pre-read EVERYTHING.
Thanks!
