What?

Sorry if you were startled.

Not at all. A pleasant surprise, and nice of you to remember.

You should see Fiend Without A Face.

Wow, is he really your grandpa?

Fiend Without A Face looks fantastic.

Maybe I will, I've just plonked it into my Amazon basket. It's banned in Sweden according to Wikipedia.

I've added it to my 'high priority' list for my DVD rental company to send me. Judging by their record of sending me the Errol Flynn films I've marked as 'high priority' I might be waiting a long time.

> is he really your grandpa?

Yup. But I never met him: died before I was born. The closest I got was watching Carry On Regardless, in which my father says he didn't act; he just played himself. My dad actually can't watch that film because it's like seeing a ghost. Whereas the rest of us can't watch it because it's so deeply awful.

What the hell?

What the hell?

Imdb confirms. I googled about a bit but couldn't find anything. Wierd huh. Perhaps there wasn't enough nudity?

I shall write a letter (involving actual paper and ink) to the Swedish Film Institute, asking whether they can shed any light on this masterpiece's prestigious 'banned in Sweden' status.

Spot the guy who hasn't seen it yet.

I love this bit in the Wikipedia entry:

"The creature is also invisible, so no one knows what it looks like..."

That should really read:

"The creature is also invisible, so the actors have to ham it up shamelessly when they're attacked by it..."

Spot the guy who hasn't seen it yet.

Hey, I like science fiction B-movies. Wobbly sets and inexpensive special effects have a charm of their own (though I'm sure creature invisibility was an artistic, not budgetary, decision). Also, any film in which the Scientist Who Has Meddled With Forces He Doesn't Understand utters the line "What have I unleashed?" is clearly brilliant.
