What?

I sometimes think that this could be the key piece of misinformation which we need to educate everyone about. Zero-sum thinking is at the heart of virtually every justification for meddling in the market.

Although the "Government creating jobs" bit gets me too.

Good sentiment, unfortunately as long as there is profit in human misery it doesn't matter. We may have resources available, but the dollar rules. Neither you or I can change that.

It's not a sentiment, Jerin, it's a description.

There is profit in all kinds of things, including misery, and also including happiness. That has absolutely nothing to do with what resources are. You obviously feel differently, so, please, give us an example of an occasion on which the desire to make profit has caused resources not to depend on ingenuity.

If you're really that interested, here's an RSS feed for the latest comments to this blog. Never miss another pointless argument.

Of course comments are moderated, in a common-sense sort of a way. You don't have to give your email address to post here.

If you know your HTML, you can use <a>, <b>, and <i> tags, and entities, too. If you don't, you can still use them, but with a greater sense of trepidation.

Cheers.
