50 years of the NHS? What's this 1998?
I hope the people who worked that out aren't working in the labs. I don't when them measuring out my dose. 60grams? Nah, fifty fits better.

Look it up in Wikipedia - it was 1998, so this post is - um - only nine years late.
Unless they're using Northern Ireland to test a design for the 60th anniversary, or something?
Never mind. The Chinese-German cuisine joke makes up for this.

The original 50p with all that metric money nonsense was pretty bad.

Is that not, right there, the history of Twentieth-Century Britain?
The Iranians certainly seem to think so.

Well, the point of my post wasn't really that the coin had only just been issued; it was that I happened to be looking at one of the coins and the thought suddenly ocurred to me. I thought it'd make a fairly good blog post: over-the-top extrapolation from inconsequential trivia. I didn't think it was breaking news or something.

If you're really that interested, here's an RSS feed for the latest comments to this blog. Never miss another pointless argument.
Of course comments are moderated, in a common-sense sort of a way. You don't have to give your email address to post here.
If you know your HTML, you can use <a>, <b>, and <i> tags, and entities, too. If you don't, you can still use them, but with a greater sense of trepidation.
Cheers.
