Hee! That's hilarious! I grew up in cities and actually don't think I've ever been on a real farm before (I know, I think I just made the Bag Lady weep) but it still made me giggle. I love how your neighbors were all so helpful!

I think we should all take a field trip to see the Bag Lady! Maybe when it's a bit warmer up there, though.

'll clean out the bunkhouse and change the sheets! March would be a good time to come - it'll be warmer, and we'll be in the middle of calving season! I'd love to see Charlotte and Mizfit helping birth a calf or two!!
Great cow-chasing story, Gena! Love the mental image of what that guy's sports car looked like after the cows got done with it!!
I've been in the occasional cow-chase myself....

Not chased 'em myself, but I've SEEN them chased, and I can tell that you know whereof you speak. My mom and dad have cows.
My question is, why did you have to yell "ho" at the donkey??? It seems a little rude.

BL - I'm ready to come help with the calving!
Melissa - for some reason the donkey would only follow if you shouted HoHoHo in an imitation of Santa. Strange donkey, that one.

We still have those 2 cows. Their names are "Blackie" and "Red". Can you guess their colors? They haven't gotten out since that time - guess the grass isn't greener in the other pasture!

I totally relate to your story, 'cause I too was raised in the country and have wrangled many cows myself. (not trying to outdo your entertaining story, but I even delivered two calves when the Moms were having problems with the delivery). Calves and cows are among my favorite four legged creatures. Too Too Sweet!

I LOVE this story. I remember you telling it once before at Knit Night. It makes my upbringing feel less "redneck".
