Gravatar Are you going to be using WVO or biodiesel? Can you alternate? I read that consumption is approx. one gallon per hour. Is the 12.5KW the expected daily output? I trying to learn as much as possible before relocating to the NC/VA mountains in about eight years.

Gravatar We will be using biodiesel for startup and shutdown, and WVO as the primary run fuel. 12.5kw is the maximum possible instantaneous output. As we will run this engine for approximately 10 hours a day, the daily output could be up to 125 kWh's per day. We don't need anywhere near that (more like 10 kWh's per day) but the generator capacity is there as we build our eco-village.

Gravatar How are you going to stop fuel from freezing in the winter.?

Gravatar The heat from the engine heats the fuel to 170F before we switch over to V100 from biodiesel. A coolant loop from the house keeps the engine warm at night for easy morning starts. During the day the engine uses that coolant loop to heat the house hot water, through a heat exchanger.
