Gravatar As a person who works in a chemical factory that produces some of the best Hydrofol 99.7 USP grade Glycerine, I am curious as to what happens to crude glycerine that is split off during the reaction phase? How do you dispose of the crude glycerine?
We use only crude glycerine derived from animal base at this time after an incident of using crude glycerine derived from biodiesel production that was provided to us and represented as animal base. The biodiesel glycerine contained too many odor bodies and to make it a viable feed stream, it used too much of our resourses to process it into 99.7 to 100% glycerine.
What do home brew folks do with the by-products and how much can the legally produce before they fall under EPA scrutiny?

Gravatar We use it as soap/parts degreaser, burn it in the wood furnace, or compost it.
