One cool thing about this setup is that unlike most other emergency generators, this system also has a battery so you don't have to run the engine constantly to keep it going.

Correct. And with additional batteries, and some of our PV kits, the engine off intervals can be extended.

Any thoughts for a diesel model? If I could run this baby on bio diesel, I could run this thing for almost "free"!

Yes, I can do a diesel model, but it adds almost $1800 to the cost.

I was looking at a new 3.3hp water cooled Diesel engine on ebay for about $300 with shipping. Maybe I could adapt it to your rig. What would the cost be for an engine-less setup? Or, would I be better served to get my own hardware and build the battery/outlet portion myself? Just curious. Thanks.

I can subtract $200 if you bring your own engine. You'd have to come up with the right size pulley and mounting bracket, as ours is designed for a typical lawnmower engine and 3600 rpm's.
