Green Trust

Gravatar I've been impressed with your tolerance and ingenuity for about the 2 years that I've been an observer and occasional contributor to some of the newsgroups you contribute to. I left the Los Angeles basin in 1980 and moved to a 2.5 AC parcel in the Sierra Natl Forest. We lived there for 6 years until economics and my health forced us to return to an urban environment in Fresno CA.

I sorely miss my beloved mountains but I cannot line at the 6,000ft. high altitude any longer. My own fault for being a smoker. Now all I can do is preach environmental concerns and my solar PV on grid (10 kW) and look forward to a time when I can get a PHEV for my transportation needs. I want to be able to use the surplus power (energy) my 10 kW system provides which amounted to 3,000 kWh last year. That figures to roughly 12,000 miles annually using a number I saw on the Prius (250 .25 kW /mi.) someplace.

You have your veggioil, I got PV - I have to admit the PV is more capital intensive, but you have to work a lot harder. Thanks to my installing 2.5 yeas ago my system had better rebates and tax credits than currently is available, so it will be paid for in June of 2009 at current rates for power in this part of CA

Gravatar I'm more impressed with my wife's tolerance

I would love to have your PV array, but labor for me is in more abundance than capital. Besides, getting this stuff to work and showing others how is a lot of fun.
