Green Trust

Gravatar Get your own server, or host out of a DSL or Cable-Modem connection. If you have lots of images, put them on a home Cable modem connection, and host the main web page from your web host's server. I think there's creative ways to reduce your bandwidth. I think people come for content, not images or banner-ads, so adjust! --MMM

Gravatar We live off-grid, and don't have power enough to keep a server up 24 hours a day, and our dsl connection could not support the bandwidth we are burning through. It's more important to keep this information available. I pay about $400 per year in hosting for a 40gb + pipe, impeccable 24 hour support, and loads of storage space. But this site keeps getting more traffic, more folks lookin for self sufficiency info, and it's important that it's always available, even when I'm not.
