Gravatar Thanks for sharing this. Really.

Gravatar Women who love to study God's Word can sometimes feel that they are laboring in vain, and that there will never be an outlet for their efforts.

As you know, I am one of "those women." What I am coming to learn more and more is that my motive for studying cannot be to find an outlet for my efforts, but rather that the study is for my own understanding of God and my sanctification. My outlet is my family, my local church and countless young women who need mentoring. I know that in this market driven culture we live in, we often find that unless our outlet is a paid one, or one that garners attention, it is not "as good" as someone else's. I must remind myself that I'm not in this for my own glory.

Gravatar I forgot to say that I thought this was a great post.... this is what comes from commenting with a fourteen year old boy hanging over my shoulder

Gravatar Thanks, Kim, you've made a fabulous point. What we consider an worthy outlet is often an idea that we get from the world. We're not in this for our own glory.

Gravatar I view our marriage of nearly 20 years much like the different branches of government. I do end up making most of the decisions in our house, at the request of my husband. I am good at it, and he has ADD, and is challenged in that area. But of course, he has veto power.

I don't know why God has installed men as head of the church and family. At first I thought, it must be a cultural moray of the time, but that was quickly shot down, as Jesus did so many things counter-culturally, I'm sure he would've had no qualms about having women apostles if that's what he wanted. Maybe it was so there wouldn't be any sexual temptation among leaders, I don't know. For whatever reason, that's how he set it up.

Gravatar What Kim said. Both times.
