I have been learning more about Nouthetic Counselling as well. There's an excellent book by John MacArthur and the staff at The Master's Seminary that is about Christian counseling, and it is a very eye-opening read just for the discussion it provides about the role of sin in our lives.

I am all for Nouthetic Counseling.

I learned of it from Martha Peace while reading The Excellent Wife.

When my husband and I needed to see a counselor I told him I would go to no other kind of counselor.
We found one and went.
