I like Al Franken, though I never thought he was by any means the strength in the lineup at SNL when he was there. His radio show on Air America was loads better, and on good days the best listening on the channel. Let's hope his successful candidacy becomes a bellwether for American politics - a signal that you don't have to be a multi-millionaire or a lawyer to serve the people. I yearn for the day that anyone from anywhere can run for office without having first to overcome the 'novelty candidate' label.

I was never a fan of Franken at AAR or SNL, but I love his books. I'd vote for him over Coleman based simply on his pulse. What AAR paid him was a clear indication that place was very poorly managed. $2 million a year? For that show?
