Here to prove (hopefully) that comments aren't broken.
And just say "Hi!".
While I do not wish the KKK to still exist, I respect their right to exist and their right to their opinion, and their right to their freedom of speech. They are not helping things, but if we legislate them away, then we'll just be legislating away more of our rights. Not a step I want to take.
Anyway, my 2 cents.
Glad you are having such an awesome time watching baseball!

I find the phrase "Christian Family Values" amusing. Guess it's not fair to reach back in time to judge this particular local group, but visions of burning crosses and folks hanging in trees don't seem to fit the Christian Family Values image that first flashes through ones mind.
But then, in their minds those things might seem way better than gay marriage. More is the pity.

Very interesting post. I had the KKK come to my hometown a few years ago. Not sure of their purpose. Whether it be KKK or a fraternity--I am not for any organized organization (if that makes sense) with such a hardcore fundamental, wall-eyed vision perspective.

Comments are back! I felt so thwarted yesterday!
This shit makes me insane. Maisie's Dad and I meet at the halfway point on the highway to send her down there for weekend visits, and that halfway point happens to fall in Hightstown, NJ: the northeast HQ of the Klan. I keep looking at the faces: that one? that one? They ought to wear their sheets fulltime, so we'll know them.
Can't we all just fucking get along??

Everytime something like this comes up I have to remind myself that the Klan does, indeed, have a right to march. If we take away their right to peaceably assemble and make speeches (however ridiculous as long as they don't cross that "fire in a crowded theater" line) it is a very, very, very short step from *my* right to assemble and listen to really dumb speeches being taken away. And, frankly, living in DC, I like it when all the gays and lesbians and transgendered people and queers come to my town and have a public party. I wouldn't want that to end.
And no, to answer Inger's question, we can't just all get along: it is in human nature to destroy ourselves and the one thing we fear the most is anything different from what we know. It's a miracle we've survived this long into the nuclear age.
