Gravatar You have reminded me of a widely held Korean belief in 'Fan Death' - I'm 100% serious and so are they! When I first came to Korea in summer I was warned by my then boss not to sleep with the windows closed and fan on. When I inquired why, he explained that it can cause death and has been registered as the cause of death for many Koreans over the years.

Doubting this, I asked several other seemingly well balanced Koreans who confirmed my bosses view. The interesting thing is that nobody could give me any explanation as to the scientific reason or cause of death just that it definitely is the case. They also seemed unable to explain why (as far as I'm aware)'death by fan' is a uniquely Korean phenomenon!

Please google Korean fan death if you think this is an April fool because I kid you not!!!

Have a nice weekend all

Gravatar Gross picture. Sweaty. Glistening. Puffy. Gross. Eecht.

Most places don't have AC here in Portland. We just don't need it really. Summer time is 70's-80's, maybe a few days in 90-s and maybe one or two hit 100, and humidity? We know not of what you speak.

Sorry. Had to say it.

Gravatar O.k. Here goes: The Air Conditioned States of America. Thank you.

Gravatar when my kids ride in the car with me they don't let me run the ac...we have to ride with the windows open...but our house is ac'd and they don't seem to mind that...my kids are little hippies and they tell me the freeon chemicals in the ac blasting in your face in the car is just not good...the ac chemicals are cancer causing...along with just about everything else in the world...but i will not sleep in damp sheets, so i will live with the ac on...

as for the cost of energy it is bad and getting worse...i do not even want to tell you what it costs to heat/cool my 180 year old farmhouse...you'd scream...

what an awful picture of that awful man...

buck fush...

peace...

Gravatar I'm with you on this one.... I could probably cut my electric bill somewhat in the summer but with the pugs having respiratory problems because of their PUG noses, I have to keep my place in the mid 70's all summer.....

Talk about having to work to pay the electric bill!

And wherever did you get that godawful picture of Dubya? UUGH...

Happy April Fools Day!

DON~

Gravatar Reminder: Nor Cal needs no air conditioning. Aren't you sick of TX yet? lol

Actually, I drive with my a/c on in the car even in winter.

Sweaty Bush... I'm behaving here. lol Can you hear my tongue being bitten off?

Gravatar This old house doesn't have central heat or air. Had I known I'd still be here all these years later, I'd have installed it when I replaced the original wall furnace. Since then I've been through two sets of window units, a large one in the front of the house and a smaller one in our bedroom. My electric and water bill (public utilitiy) level payment is $280/month.
It's not Houston, but it's generally around 70% humiditiy or higher here. Hoping with over 90 pounds gone this summer is much easier on me than the last few had been!

Gravatar I'm stingy with the HVAC. I didn't use any heat this winter (really, it's not necessary in H-town) and I keep my AC set same as STB's. If I didn't have two indoor cats, I'd probably set the AC even higher when I'm not home.

After eight years of livin' like this, I actually like it. I can't take the refrigerated homes that so many people live in.

Humidity does indeed suck.
