I thought that about their triple fence when they announced they had voted for it! They keep cutting taxes on the millionaires, so they have to keep the rest of us here to make up for it!

I got really P.O.'d a while back; I was listening to "Prarie Home Companion" and when Keillor was reading out all the "hellos" at the beginning of the 2nd hour he sent one to the skipper of a Coast Guard cutter from his daughter.

The cutter was off the Coast of Vietnam!

WTF is our Coast Guard doing patrolling off the coast of S.E. Asia? I know they've pared the Navy down to nothing (when I was in 30 years ago they were planning a 1,000 ship Navy for the millenium; it was at 600 something then. It's almost half that now) but still, our Coast Guard 1/2 a world away?

Although we read in our history books about the bad old 'colonial' days (or more often than not we didn't and it was conveniently skipped over) - times really haven't changed much have they?

Whatever happened to that time, is seems so very long ago.... when life was simple; when we were welcomed, admired, respected almost anywhere in the world?
