Been there done that. Got the T-shirt.
I'm sure Lefty was pissed off, if its the Lefty I'm thinking of........
Interesting you were in Ready Two. That was our ready room on Ike, and as XO I had the stateroom next to Maintenance control and the Ready room. A Godsend during GQ, even if the whole squadron did know that I slept in till 10. ( I was a night crawler on the ship usually not going to bed before 2 AM.....if you want to know how the squadron is really doing, watch your night check!)

Yep, one in the same Lefty...
4-man room was on the port side outboard of the PR shop. RR location (proximity to CIC and dirty shirt WR) plus access to flight deck was the best of any CV I'd been on. It had been like that since the ship was comissioned. When I chcked onboard as 'gator I noticed that after the yard period the "usual" order had re-asserted itself -- VF up in RR's 1 & 2, VAW back under the wires...

SJS;
I got the inline TB function showing again.
I caught this story a few months back. Great work.
And...I have taken the domain of blogvel.com, with the intent of showcasing work such as this and Lex's great online novel...when time allows some formatting.
I love this "I was there, so the detail is done right" sort of writing.
When at the MilBlog Conference last year, I discovered Lex had had a few inputs to his work, where SMEs had fed a section or two. I got thinking that process would allow the weaving of a great group authored novel, with threads (or tentacles, if you like) spreading out, each with a person who had the t penning with his/her connected part of the overall story.
Thoughts?

Curt:
Thanks and yes, I think the idea of a group authored, interwoven novel is a great idea (may be a great nightmare coordinating!) -- throw me in that briar patch!
