Yow. Just finished reading parts one and two and this is a scary tale, indeed. I have no doubt that the outcome will be good, but as it's said..."it ain't the destination, it's the journey..."

Probably should take this opportunity to 'splain a bit about the MODEX. Nowadays, all the VAWs use 600-604, but back then, that was usually the case only for certain PAC airwings. Our airwing reserved 010-015 for the VAWs (others were up in the 72x domain). As for the Bluetails, we carried 011-014 (legend had it that CAG refused to fly w/us so Skipper refused to have a '0' bird) and when 160992 lurched our way, we went w/015 for the 5th bird. Didn't last long though as we lost (transfered) a plane to the RAG when we returned (our best it turned out) and the dictum came out that summer to cloak ourselves in the 600 series modex.
