Want to know what's plausible? A reluctance to strike hard at the PRC in response to the types of attacks you describe.....
We are committed by treaty and obligation to the defense of Taiwan. However I wonder if when push comes to shove, whether we will dilly -dally and hesitate to go after facilties on the mainland.........
...and hence my use of conventional smart submunitions instead of a nuke (even for HEMP) so that the "gee that's awful, let's strike the mainland" threshold probably wouldn't be crossed back stateside (will be expanded upon in Part II...)
