Poor sweetie! Thankfully I think most of us have very little memory of our lives at that age otherwise he might be mentally scarred for life!

I'm sure he'll be okay. The doctors will be mindful of his age and the possible complications and be ready for them (IF they happen).
No worries, sweetie.

My girlfriend's 2.5 year old had to have his circumcision re-done. His mom totally freaked about all the same things; the kid was fine with the whole thing, and by the next day, you never would have known he'd had surgery in an um...sensitive...area at all. Breathe in, breathe out.......

Katy, my son had this also. He had surgery when he was 7, all went well.
My brother also had surgery for this back in 1960, all went well.
I know when my son Dave had this done, I cried the whole time he was in surgery. I hated the thoughts of them cutting my baby.
Prayers for all to go well. Which I am sure it will. This is not that uncommon. The doctors told us back when David had this done, (1977) that this condition is hereditary.
I guess he got it off of my brother. I guess? My brother has two boys and they didn't inherit it. Go figure???

My thoughts are with you. It is so hard when something we can't control happens to our babies. He will be fine and as others have told you, he won't even remember it.
Hang in there!!!

Honey - we gotcha covered if you need to freak out.
My friend AFSister had to deal with kid surgery recently also. Take a look at this post.
Her boy Kevin is doing great, and the general was not a problem.

Hey! My brother had that operation when he was a baby! Trust me, at 31 he doesn't remember! haha!
I have had to have my son sedated. I'll be honest, it sucks. BUT he 'fell asleep' in my arms and I was able to hold him until I knew he was out. AND I was there when he woke up. Just a little nappy-poo!
Sucks though, I understand!

Both of my kids went under general anesthesia, Shane at 2 years, Maddie at 2.5 years. It's terrifying, but it's for the best, usually. Both procedures could have been done with a black on an adult, but it's less traumatic to put a child under. As for the sterilization fears, that is a scary thought. Many hugs to you and Ethan, poor little guy!! Can leaving the fluid there cause problems? Could it cause fertility problems or something?

My son had that too. I'll never forget his dumbass father's reaction. I showed him our sons elephant balls and he very proudly said "That's my boy!" I took him to the doc and she poked my babies watery balls with her manicured LONG fingernails! I wanted to smack the bitch. Luckily it went away on its own, he's 19 now and as far as I know, no problems.
I know how frightening it is, but your little guy will be fine, my prayers are with you.

To be freaked is perfectly normal for a mother that is fixing to go through this, but just don't make yourself sick. Your baby boy is going to need you. From my experience, my baby was 20 months old and he did fine, doesn't remember a thing. It's all for the best of your son. Be brave, and we will be brave with you. Love and Kisses to you, Clint and Ethan.

It will be fine. My son had the surgery at 18 months. Yes, they do general anesthesia. But as soon as we got him home (same day) he was up and about as if nothing had happened. He never needed any pain medication. Now, at age 5, you can't even see the scars anymore (which, by the way are on this tummy).

Freak out freak out freak out! I don't know what the hell I would do if one of my babies had to be put under. I'm slightly allergic to the anesthetic. I get really really sick. More vomit then you'd ever want to see. But your baby will be fine. He will I know he will. They wouldn't do it if they didn't think that he'd be fine. But yeah... You have permission to freak the hell out! But once you're done freaking out. RELAX!
