Holy shit. I know N and I would both tear someone to shreds, methodically and excrutiatingly, if they touched one of our children. I have issues with people condemning all sex offenders, since many are statutory rape, but offenders who commit crimes against babies need to be executed. I hope the family and the victim recover from this horrible act.

I don't think it is paranoid or sexist to do what you need to protect your children. I don't intend to leave my kids with anyone but Mom and Dad, MIL and FIL, SIL, or a couple of my really close female friends until the kids can talk.
And once they can talk, I will make sure they know what they need to know about good touch/bad touch, screaming real loud and running outside if someone tries to hurt them, and that if someone says they will hurt them or us if they tell then that person is a dirty rotten liar in addition to being a total scumbag. Tell, tell, tell!

Good God woman! Is this 'family safe' for the holidays? Oh wait, you're keeping our families SAFE for the holidays (and hopefully evermore). Sheesh, this is pretty heavy stuff for you, but I appreciate I'm not the only 'paranoid' mommy out there. (Paranoid is a bad word to use - paranoid people THINK someone is out to get them in some way. Parents KNOW someone is out to get any child they can...that's agryfying and disturbing but not paranoid.)

Sigh...it sucks, and I agree with everything you said. Death would not be good enough for these people. Torture, then death, a painful death. It's so hard to know who's good and who's not. I leave my daughter with my grandparents, and I worry about that, for no good reason, but everyone is suspicious to me. Parenting is hard. Good thoughts to the family you mentioned.
