That is awesome. I wouldn't worry about what someone says...only you can make that determination and you have experience to go by. As long as your expectations are reasonable (and they are!), you're gonna come through with flying colors!

Jennifer, I'm so glad you have a surgery date! Hopefully it will improve things for you and the doctors will find out what the culprit is as far as your pain and headaches go.
You can't please all of the people all the time so I wouldn't worry about what others say. You are going to be a great advocate for cochlear implants because you've "been there" in several different scenarios!
I miss you! (Hugs) Laurie

That's so wonderful to hear! Hopefully, this issue will be solved for once and for all! It's great that you have realistic expectations. Who gives a hoot what other people say? There's people who do far worse with their bodies over and over...namely Micheal Jackson with his nose, and Pamela Anderson with the implants.
Rock on!

Ahhhhh Sweety - that's GREAT! And yea... I definitely think it's worth a try. (especially if insurance is willing to cover it!) And if it doesn't increase your hearing - you are STILL waaaaaaay ahead of the game! You DO hear now! The AWESOME part has happened! This is just "tweaking"...

Jennifer, you are having surgery on my birthday! I am so happy you're able to have the surgery and try to get to the bottom of the problems you've had with that ear. Like you said, even if it doesn't work, at least you know you tried everything.
I had the same reaction as you when they did the hearing aid test for my CI evaluation. The vibrations were so intense that it made me completely dizzy--it felt like my eyes were rolling around in my head. It was really terrible! I went through the whole test telling them "I felt that" ...I didn't hear anything, but the louder tones vibrated my head. It was really strange and if that's how your CI has been giving you sound (via vibration), I don't blame you for disliking it!
I know what you mean about sleeping on one side only -- I do that too. Here's to successful surgery for you on 8/28!!
Hugs,
Wendi

Good news indeed, sweet Jen! And such unselfish expectations of wanting sleep without head pain! So if moving the re-implant a few mm’s around gives you “normal” CI hearing and satisfies your expectations in the process, then you can get selfish wanting more of what the CI can give, and rightfully so!

Jen,
That is great news! August 28th will be here before you know it. I can totally understand why you want to re-implant that ear espeically with the pain you are having. If some way some how it causes less sensation and you are able to here a "fraction" better then that along will be worth it. I'm behind you 100%!!!!!
Oh and my surgery is in 12 days and I can't freakin' believe it! A week from Tuesday! I'm in utter shock. Just think by the time you have your surgery I'll be "hearing" with the implant.

All in God's timing, dear one. No experiences are wasted in His economy. You had such a great rapport with the surgeaon at your last appointment and such a peace about his opening the door to re-implantation. He agreed with you that something is wrong in your head and that needs to be fixed.
Exciting times lay ahead. You will be bathed in prayer.

You said it, "something is obviously not right inside my head". Don't I know it?!!
LOL
Seriously, I wish you all the best, all the luck. You'll pull through just fine and you'll be telling me all about bilateral hearing (surrond sound) before you know it.
Love you!

Good luck, Jennifer. I hope it turns out better than you are hoping. It's good to keep expectations low. My left ear has been deaf for 10-15 years. I am trying not to have high expectations either. MY surgery date is JULY 23. YIKES.

Exciting days ahead for you! The reimplantation should improve your CI experience in many ways. I'll be following your story closely.
Best of luck, Jen.
