Every four years there is talk of this brave notion of reaching across the aisle for a VP pick. It never happens. It never happens for very sound reasons. I really don't understand why writers find it so original and daring. I'm not familiar with Clemons but do respect TPM so I say this with no joy: it's mindless wankery of the sort Jonah Goldberg has forged a career out of.
No Republican is gonna pick a Democrat, no Democrat a Republican.
