For more, much more, from a former Tyson line worker in Arkansas, see http://cyberactivist.blogspot.com

Gravatar I've been boycotting Tyson products for several years now since the strike here in Jefferson, WI in 2003. It lasted for a year with scabs crossing the picket line. The strikers eventually took it up the ass and went back to work. Bastards indeed.

Gravatar Tyson disgusts me. I already boycott tyson b/c I read that the owner is a crack head. He is a rich asshole who is the son of the previous owner...founder? Anyway, please don't think that this behavior is the norm in Alabama. I think it takes companies like this to fascilitate such behavior. Shame on Tyson and shame on Ashland!

Gravatar Hey, dumbasses, how about waiting to hear from Tyson, or at least *something* other than a lawyer's press release?

Jesus. Y'all are worse than a lynch mob.

Gravatar I'm a mortgage loan officer. I do loans nation wide and I've been working to close a loan for someone that was working for Tyson chicken at that plant in Ashland. He had worked there for several years and as of June of 2005 he got a better job in another state. Anyhow, he never mentioned anything having to do with discrimination but he did tell me it was not uncommon for him to work 20 hours days. He was on a salary and they worked him to death. His wife told me the company "went through" employees all the time. They became too exhausted to work anymore and would either quit or lose their job.

Gravatar Tyson, racist? How ya'all talk! I worked on a contract with them over 20 years ago. Their head office had no minorities of any stripe. I was told the slaughtering plants had all black (now Latino) workers except for the manager who was white. No wonder the black workers are dirty. They stand in the chicken blood all day.

I'm told they contribute mightily to campaign funds so don't expect the pols to do anything about it. They are big and powerful in their industry.

Try boycotting Chicken McNuggets --- Tyson used to supply those.

Gravatar I suggest that you ask your readers to email investor relations @ Tyson with a complaint.

As a rule, when no one else at a corporation gives a damn, investor relations usually does.

And in addition, I suggest everyone email 60 Minutes, 20/20, and 48 Hours to pitch that story- A group of people I know changed the way a corporation did business by successfully lobbying 20/20 to an episode- When 20/20 showed up with cameras, and asking pointed questions, the miscreant corporation decided it was time for a change.

The fact that almost all repugs are happy with such naked discrimination, begs a headline news segment.

George

Gravatar Holy shit. I can't seem to pick my jaw up off the floor. I'm going to cry now.

Gravatar Tyson needs to be sued and more. I have never bought any Tyson product and that's because I lived in NW Arkansas for 16 years and knew they discriminated against females of all races. That and, now this, they need to be sued in a NORTHERN FEDERAL COURT.
