What a fucking tool. Zegerle is calling shit on Jerome being a "poor graduate student" because he got a job paying $3000 a month consulting for the Dean campaign. Holy shit, $700 a week for Jerome for a temporary job! The gravy train never stops in the smoke-filled rooms of blogtopia.

Any advertiser can uncheck Daily Kos on the Advertising Liberally network and I'm sure many do because it's freaking expensive. As far as I can tell there is open animosity between most Daily Kos readers and Democratic Underground readers which is also part of the BlogAds network. And Kevin Drum gets shit all the time on the front page of dKos. The asshats at TNR need to get off the conspiracy theories. Bloggers can't run at a loss like the TNR so they try to make a buck for their efforts. It's called capitalism, not cronyism. Cronyism is how the money-losign magazines work - not blogs.

BlogAds is one stop shopping for for advertisers who want to target an audience. Markos, Kevin Drum, Josh Marshall, and Jane Hamsher aren't some backroom cabal - they are products on a shelf like Coke, Pepsi, 7-UP, and Yoo-Hoo. You put like products on the same shelf in a supermarket, it's not a conspiracy, it's convenience. I'm sure the good folks at First-Draft are willing to participate in some payola scheme for a whopping $10 a week each. Zegerle is no better than Steven Spruill at National Review spewing horseshit and expecting a pat on the head. They deserve a kick in the ass.

Huh?

I never pay attention to this sort of insidery stuff. And especially not anything coming from TNR.

Anyway, Kos has a huge megaphone and more readers than TNR. I'm sure he can defend himself adequately.

Steve, there's a side, er, main point:

What is the relation between the hiring of Jerome by pols, and the political support of Dkos which includes: fundraising, moonbat-stirring, and general publicity?

There are many questionable examples.

http://tks.nationalreview.com/ po...YmRjMjgzYTMyMTQ

This "Advertising Liberally" shit is retarded wishful wingnut thinking.

The Armstrong-Kos butt-buddyness 2fer is what smells to me.

Kent,

That's true, but I dislike being called a bribed lackey.

"lackey" may be the least-appropriate adjective i'd use to describe the editor of this publication, for sure.....

Whooo-weee! These folks are desperate! What internal polling or numbers are they looking at that has them so sh*t-scared that they've now embarked on a scorched-earth death-to-all-things-Kos campaign?

It's utterly giggle-worthy!

I mean, it started with the attempt to ape and replicate Daily Kos via the puerile and ineffective "RedState". Then when that melted down into the earth like the joint in "House Of Wax", they decided it would be fun to continuously mock Daily Kos itself as a non-factor in elections (a lot of effort spent on a non-factor, eh?). But as the site's influence became apparent in races like Hackett's, Obama's, Busby's and Webb's, win or lose--the venom had to mount new heights. Drudge and Simon then tried to belittle "Crashing The Gate"'s sales, and f*cked that up when the numbers were not only more than respectable, but well in excess of those of right-f*ck darlings (and secret hand-holders) Hewitt and Reynolds. Hear that sound? It's teeth grinding and steam whooshing from usually closed ears.

And then came YearlyKos and the batsh*t right spattered guano as far as the eye could see.

The numbers bothered 'em. The seriousness bugged 'em. The level of focus bugged 'em. the task-oriented-ness bugged 'em. The unwillingness to play along with the pre-written GOP shill narrative bugged 'em.

Bugged. Bugged. BUGGED! Like a room monitored by Harry Caul.

The success of the damn thing p*ssed 'em off something awful. And the bit of deference shown to the attendees by major political players who showed, as well as a lot of favorable coverage in the press unhinged these losers like a smashed door in a crackhouse raid.

Nearly every one of the wingnut faves has had an anti-Kos dig or two damn near every day since YK ended--"Crazy Eyes" Malkin, Insta-legacy-hire and Captain Spread most notably. So the dwindling circulation-ed Lieberman Letter TNR decided to suck up to the pouty wingnut douchebags with a meringue-light sourced hatchet job making Kos out to be some sort of omnipotent J.J. Hunsecker of the left.

Amazing. An article like that on Kos while there's been no such glance at the top-down welfare administered by Reynolds, Simon and Johnson via the slush fund for poor righty bloggers that is Pajamas Media. Funny, idn' it? Something's got these WATBs spooked like Barney Fife in a graveyard. And it's pretty clear what it is...

The '06 mid-terms, baby. Methinks somebody's got their soot-stained, cross-burnin' little hands on some truly toxic internal polling that takes into account Netroots funding of candidates, and I think they saw some plum scarifyin' digits. Thus, the bullsh*t, overly-forced, and ultimately laughable muckraking over Kos and Jerome--who by the way have no "influence" to speak of...remember?

B*tches, please.

These frilly-pantsed moaners are petrified, kids. They're lashing out madly. With the recent crazed trollery here (and other lefty sites), stuff like Santorum's nutty-and-swiftly-debunked WMD party, and yes, this lame-*ss attack against Kos. Sh*t...all in a week where a Bush admin member got sent to the big house, another death-scarred military family called bullsh*t on the war's management and 8 Marines got their business put in the street via being charged with the murder of an unarmed, disabled Iraqi citizen?

Have mercy.

Jealousy, fear and loathing. Especially from right blogistan's biggets whales. What, pray tell does that tell you about their security and their perception of security of the status f*cking quo?

Let these b*tches flail away...and make sure not to spit out what you're drinking when they put a few of their own eyes out doing it.

ether,

None. Because the two are seperate. If you read the site, most of the endorsements are reader generated. Candidates even ask for support.

So, Armstrong's clients can't really sway a hundred people posting daily.

The problem with NRO is that they assume that DK and Kos are the same thing. He owns the site, but he clearly doesn't control the political content. If he did, then why have Brian Schweitzer and Bill Richardson also been talked up?

There has been nothing like the pay for play of the Thune campaign or the Wal Mart pimping of bloggers.

Most of the supporting of candidates comes readers. In 2004 they voted on whom to support. With Hackett-Brown, there were a lot of Hackett supporters posting there.

NRO assumes that Armstong's clients get talked up, but only on Kos and not MyDD, which he once ran?

If people believed that, DK is where it would be aired first.

And LM raises an excellent point, exactly who IS paying for Assclown Media and what are their ties?

Personally, I don't give a shit. I don't write about conflicted issues, and when I have an interest, I mention it up front.

"The Armstrong-Kos butt-buddyness 2fer is what smells to me."

No there there...and because of it, fantasies, fables and fizz--and not a drop of soda.

What. A. F*cking. Joke.

But the open "butt-buddiness" of Hewitt, Reynolds and Kudlow insofar as what they parrot and flog along with the above-board blogospheric welfare practiced by the right's own slush-find called Pajamas Media elicits nary a f*cking word from you or your sh*t-color shirted pals. How interesting.

"You fucking child."
(Ricky Roma--Glengarry Glen Ross)

Bullshit, bullshit and bullshit. Why bother even dignifying this shit Steve?

Honestly, I don't get it.

I do think Tapped (I think it was Tapped) did make an excellent point however. This is just the beginning. The first shot in the coming media war with and about publicly controlled media such as blogs.

The whole business is being peddled by Josh Trevino.

Mr. "Online Integrity" himself, in his most recent attempt over at redstate, outed georgia10, linking prominently to a local newspaper account that includes her real name and her hometown. Trevino also rehashes and reopens the whole Armando is a corporate lawyer bullshit.

Trevino, who suddenly and mysterious quit "Swords Crossed" after about a month, saying he had "unexpected and conflicting opportunities"...any question what they were?

Right then.

As I said here at Kos let's see what happens with this, where it goes.

My position? 1) Who knows what the facts are with the Armstrong allegations. 2) The Armstrong allegations are separate from any business of Kos', and guilt by association doesn't work very well. 3) The folks at RedState, TNR, and Trevino himself (not to mention Suellentrop at NYT and the other tool at NYPost) had better make very, very, very certain that their dots are very well connected and their ducks are lined up right and orderly...

Otherwise I smell Libel, Torts, and malicious slander suits in civil court.

Who knows, maybe Viguerie and Blackwell could wind up paying for a year or two of Kos' server and hosting costs.

Red Dan, are you quoting from the super-secret email?

"There has been nothing like the pay for play of the Thune campaign or the Wal Mart pimping of bloggers."

Armando doesn't deserve that, come on Steve.

That's the weakest journalistic "scoop" I've ever seen. A grand conspiracy for which there is no evidence and no one speaking on the record or even anonymously. Zerlenge and his TNR bosses were so sure that they had the silver bullet to take down those upstart blogs that raced to publish this horseshit without doing a scintilla of checking. I've seen stronger evidence marshalled to support theories about the Jews fluoridating our water supply so they can steal all the gold in Fort Knox.

That's par for the course for today's "journalism" - in a way, it doesn't matter if the story is true or not, just propelling this smear out into the world is enough to do damage and keep it going. We're going to see this repeated over and over again, in increasingly distorted fashion, over the next twelve months. How very FoxNews. A nice indication of whose side TNR is really on.

It's also a nice tribute to the growing power of blogs and the collapsing influence of mags like TNR. If they're so important and plugged in, and we're just a bunch of know-nothing kids wearing pajamas, then how come they're spending all their time chasing us around, desperate for somthing, anything they can slime us with? TNR used to move the public debate on issues like health care and nuclear strategy. Now it spends its days spinning elaborate conspiracy theories about some guy who has a website. Sheesh, and I thought they couldn't fall any farther than they did during the Sullivan era (Bell Curve, Paglia, Shalit, Glass, etc.)

What was that Ghandi quote? "First they ignore you, then they ridicule you, then they fight you, and then you win"? Well, it looks like we've entered stage 3.

ether -
steve_gilliard is probably referring to this story.

PR giant Edelman has hired RedState.org blogger Michael Krempasky "for his ability to connect with conservative audiences," O'Dwyer's PR Daily reports. "Krempasky, on his site, refers to the Edelman gig as his 'day job' versus his blogging hobby. His first mission is to play up Wal-Mart Stores' contribution to Hurricane Katrina. The world's largest retailer, which had over $282 billion in sales last year, has donated a total of $17 million for hurricane relief and is opening up "mini Wal-Marts" in effected areas to distribute food, diapers, clothing, water and other items to those in need. According to Edelman, Krempasky's hire demonstrates the firm's "leading role in trying to harness the power of the blogosphere for its clients."

I am willing to bet that a quick look at "ether's" IP address reveals that he is actually Josh Trevino.

And no, I am quoting from no super-secret email...I am quoting myself and what I wrote all by myself, right here at my computer.

"What was that Ghandi quote? "First they ignore you, then they ridicule you, then they fight you, and then you win"? Well, it looks like we've entered stage 3."

We have indeed.

And as for the sad, possibly over-medicated Treviņo's flogging this, yeah...the twisted little f*ck's trying to exact revenge for his butt-buddy Ben Domenech getting his *ss roasted for plagiarism. Also evidently to yes, somehow stay relevant in the face of his failures everywhere he's used his cheeto-ed keyboard to generate pixels (Tacitus, Treviņo AT, RedState, and Swords Crossed--that's a lotta hoppin' 'round for a so-called "player").

But of course, his ability to poke sticks that annoy is directly related to the IDIOTIC opinion by some on the left that these pinstriped fascists can be befriended and trusted. He ingratiates himself with these people just long enough to find an angle of attack--as Armando is now discovering. But...the one thing you can count on here is for this hate-fogged little nutjob to f*ck this up and embarass himself and thus discredit the whole damned scam.

I await, as usual, with chortle parked for quick release.

Ethics lessons from TNR would hold about the same value as speech lessons from Elmer Fudd.

some sort of omnipotent J.J. Hunsecker of the left.

Heh. I knew that was you, LowerManhattan!

LM, I think Ticky-Tacky Trevino has already fucked up in a bunch of ways:

1) Kos was promoting Chelsea Green books long before Crashing the Gate was even contemplated.

2) Ezra Klein, Max Sawicky, Stirling Newberry and a bunch of bloggers on the AL network, many of whom have spent a LOT of time criticizing Kos have alrady come forward saying the whole "payola/controla" business is utter bullshit.

3) There is no obvious connection, other than fervid gossip between Armstrong's garnering of cash from candidates and Kos' supposed pimping of those same candidates.

It's speculation based on apparent coincidences (most of which really aren't) and "evidence" cherry picked to appear like a circumstantial case...

And it's close to rising to the level of a tort claim, at least as far as this non-lawyer can tell.

hamletta!!

Wow, have I missed you!

The most bizarre attack is that kos is pushing Warner due to Jerome. He has not endorsed anyone, and indeed anyone who doesn't think the Democrats should at least think about a successful governor of Virginia is a fool; he may not be the answer, but he's got to be in the mix.

Kos/Armstrong

What is the big diffence in touting worthless stocks and touting for worthless candidates like mark Warner.

No Difference - make big money at both.

Does anyone wonder why the kos' "Take down the DLC" plan evaporated around the time Warner hired Jerome?

I question the timing. Oh, and ROVE DID IT!!

Well said sir. Well said.

"Try to tell the truth and stand your ground.
Don't let the bastards get you down."

ice weasel,

Never let a lie go unanswered. And this was a series of lies about things I'm involved in.

ether,

Armando, as far as I can tell, did legal work for Wal Mart. Which as a lawyer, is unavoidable in many circumstances. I mean, if you do contracts in most commercial areas. It is America's largest corporation. He didn't pick his clients.

NRO revealed who he was in an act of spite, and in some shoddy journalism.

What I'm talking about is that Mike Krempasky of Red State is a Wal Mart consultant, and the company was sending talking points to right wing sites and they didn't make it clear that their information came from Wally World.

RedDan,

Since we're clearing up family business,I told Armando directly that you can't trust the right because they think we're weak and feckless. SO he makes a deal with them, and he damn near loses a partnership opportunity over this.

Pablo ,

Uh, what Take Down the DLC plan? There's no love lost between Kos, his readers and the DLC

If this is what they're going to do,and don't be surprised if Dems jump into this mix, the consultants hate Kos as well, they're gonna find out that a lot of motivated people can raise hell.

Truth be told, I wasn't going to post about it, until I read a series of outright lies and mischaracterizations.

Kos is hardly a marching orders kinda guy. He's not telling people what to do and given bloggers, the fact is that dealing with them is like herding cats.

The fact is that we speak for the readers. Any influence we collectively have comes from the readers, not us. When you go after Kos, you're going after a lot of people whom you don't know.

TNR is achingly jealous of Kos, who has more readers than they do. But the fact is that this story isn't a story, wouldn't run in the magazine, but is a collection of easily refuted lies.

The reason I have my own blog is that I wanted to write about different things than Kos. He's not telling me what to write any more than I'm going to feed him meat.

Jason Zengerle was Stephen Glass's fact-checker at TNR while Glass typed up all his make-believe stories.

And the late, Clinton/Gore-trashing Michael Kelly was Glass' mentor.

Remember, Glass was the guy who used non-existent "evidence" to smear Clinton friend Vernon Jordan as a horndog. Nobody in the GOP/Media Complex minded at all when he did Clinton-trashing stuff like that. It was only when a business magazine tried to do a follow-up piece on a story of his about hackers that led to his downfall.

If Glass had said that Hillary Clinton was one of the hackers, he'd still be writing at TNR today. And he'd be a favored guest on all the cable news shows.

But it should tell us all something that TNR, the DLC's flagship mag and beloved of the assholes over at The Note and other GOP/Media Complex hot spots, is dying even as DailyKos alone gets more readers in a day than TNR gets in a month.

Didn't Markos himself (as distinguished from his readers) pretty much take the same line as you on the whole Kaine flap? I have a vague recollection of being (mildly) annoyed with both of you over it.

RedDan: I'm pretty sure the profile of georgia10 was linked on the front page of dkos long before Josh Trevino did anything with the link.

Steve,

Defended me, yes. Happy about having to defend me, no.

First of all I want to say you're right, I'm more interested in the WC posts.

But I also want to say I am a Kos reader and I support your reaction to Kaine pulling his ad.

The changing of the guard is never painless. Expecially when there is a whole lot of economic power available to whoever gets to be the guard. There are no friends in politics, there are sometimes allies and sometimes people with parallel short term interests; but no friends.
The enemy of my enemy is a potential ally but not a friend. If in doubt reference DeGaulle vs Churchill, ref Stalin vs Truman et.al.
Suppose for a moment that the House goes Dem this fall and all the senate races break for the Dems. A lot of currently outside the beltway folks will find themselves teleported to insider status. New faces at the parties, sucking up the hors d'ouvers, drinking the free scotch, bumping with the staffers and interns, and a lot of old faces needing to find a place to maintain the styles to which they have grown comfortable. A DLC rendered even less relevant.
Kos and Jerome are the tall poppies right now, the ones with visibility outside the blogosphere and neither of them is a welcome addition to the inside the beltway clique, yet.

I know it's not fundraising time, but I think I'll kick an extra $25 bucks over to Steve today. You know, just to keep him honest.

By the way, what is Josh Trevino's new job?

CK,

Fuck the Beltway.

Steve,

Just think, when TNR finaly disappears down the porcelain whirpool all those little turds like Zengele, Lizza, Silly Sully, Chait... will try to get jobs through the TNR old boy network that is a growing cancer in the Traditional Media. I say great!!! Let the plague spread. Because of the blogs there are million and million of new minted thought leaders who see it for exactly what it is. The death of TNR will only hasten the decline of the corporate media.

Oh, by the way I am ashamed to say I subscribed to TNR for nearly twenty years starting in college and stopped when they supported the Iraq War and Joementum.

Wow youguys are looking at this a lot harder then it needs to be. Say it wit hme folks PROJECTION. who's payroll is the TNR staff on anyway.

As a side note, if steve or kos or well any one else out there needs a paid lacky I am avalible.

Steve:
Why? Inside the beltway is where the spigot is located. Talk is talk and it is fun posing; but the action and the results come when the winners get to control the spigot. Outside the beltway one cannot spend all that stolen tax money on ones new friends, got to be in it to win it.
Face it, once the "good guys" get their hands on the spigot then the good guys can use the patriot act and the DMCA, and PatAct2 to pay back all those current spigot controllers. I mean we can trust Hillary and her peeps to do the right thing can't we; so let her and hers have the inside. Outside with a beggar's bowl asking for some whirrled peas or inside swilling Cristal and eating ice cold caviar off a naked Modo. Yup "fuck the beltway" ... give it multiple orgasms and get it high on endorphins and oxytocin.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oxytocin

They're relying on uninformed people who just don't know how to type "Daily Kos" into Google.

Which is pretty lame.

David Broder has signed onto the slime Kos movement big time. Check the Post

Congrats to Gilliard!

I just can't get excited by all this 'insidery' stuff. And I agree.

Here in the Sonoran Desert, we jokingly "complain" that our tacos and enchiladas have been 'ripped off', and so perhaps, the TNR will come to this defense of our offensive behavior for suggesting that we be paid a 'royalty' from all the 'white guys' on the Political Right and their consummate enjoyment of our decent food. Equally important, perhaps the TNR can go to bat for us and suggest to Taco Bell and Jack-in-the-Box to insure that we receive our 'fair share' of this use in which a sizable profit is being created daily.

And I know, that the TNR is on the downside skids when folks like myself 'see through' this bogus creation for a fiction of inconsequence.

So, if the folks at TNR really want to see the notions for a "tell the truth and shame the devil" approach, they should be visiting our Cactus Juice Commentaries at our internet web site. And because we speak or converse with over 3 million Chicano military veterans, they could learn a thing or two, and we don't even charge a subscription rate.

Perhaps, an "aggresssive" moderate approach and where politics is a contact sport, is too much for these fainthearted and stuffed shirts?

Jaango

But I will say this: when the Kaine campaign pulled an ad from this site last year, Kos and his readers were none too happy with my reaction. And I was a member of the AL network then as well as now.

Yes, just after you racistly put an African American politician you didn't like in blackface. I had almost forgotten about that.

I'm sorry, I'm not the smartest guy in the world. Could someone point out exactly where the story is in this article? I've read over the quoted email three times and still haven't found anything remotely objectionable. All I see is sound advice for dealing with the media from Kos, followed by a string of empty buzz words from Zengerle.

I remember when people like Zengerle wrote crazy letters to the editor, I think they called people like him "crackpots". Now they're writing articles for TNR. Sad.

I got a wide-eyed look at how the "other half" lives while in Vegas. Mark Warner threw us a food spread that can only be described as Roman Empire in it's opulence. Wow.

Was my concience bothered by it? Yup. Could I quickly learn to stop worrying and love the sushi? Absolutely. If I was a multi-million dollar consultant and lived like this all the time, I'd sell my soul after a while, too.

Steve,
Apparently Zengerle/TNR are so ego deflated that they're willing to be republican tools, just to hit back at people that are more popular and better at their jobs than they (Zengerle & TNR)are.

Don't let it get you down. You know the right will use any one/anything to attack their opponents. It's just sad that some people on "our side" are so stupid & jealous.

I'm no so sure I disagree with their conclusions.

I've tried for years to join BlogAds, but they won't even respond to me, though they do accept sites with much lower traffic than mine.

I can only assume it's because I refuse to accept the lie that voting Democrat is the answer to all things.

As a liberal independent, I'm unacceptable to the Moderate Dems.

A couple of things...first. Kos' rise to fame isn't so much for his political beliefs (although there's nothing wrong with them...that's the second point), it's for being THE political community guru. It's as simple as that. If Kos tried to bully people around, people might not stop using DKos, but they wouldn't respect him. (See Slashdot for a good example of this happening. The current batch of editors are basically hated by the community)

That said, TNRs attacks on the blogosphere as a whole, (and make NO mistake, their attacks on Kos are designed to be attacks on us all as a group) ARE because of Kos' actual political beliefs. And Atrios', and Steve's and Kevin Drums, and Klein's...

And LowerManhattanite. And RedDan. When I say the entire community. I'm literally meaning the entire community.

The TNR are pissed. The question is why? And it really has nothing to do with tactics, or success, it has a lot more to do with political ideology.

Remember the whole "Third Way" thing? One of abject centrism to "Cross the T" of the Republican party and institute a new Democratic majority? And how it was a failure?

So now you have these upstarts, coming from practically nowhere, who by and large have completly ignored and condemned your "Third Way", and are promoting a sort of "Fourth Way" politics. Instead of centrism, you have pragmaticism. Looking at the evidence, and making decisions based on that. Welcoming a good spirited debate, however, one that is based upon good faith.

The TNR crowd has never known the meaning of good faith.

That's why they're pissed. They're scared that we're going to do what they couldn't do. And that when we do it, their careers are basically over. So they'd rather hamstring us, and make sure that we lose, than pitch in a hand and actually help to make things better.

Does anyone have the recipe for trailer trash pie?

Steve: If it's true that you and Kos secretly control everything...(and if the New Republican claims it, then it has to be true!)...

Can I have a job?

TNR is a Stalinist tool.

The old joke applies... Don't worry about selling out 'cause nobodies buying. Everybody here has read Steve for some time... even the lowly trolls show some insight into Steve's history on the net...

Now what would happen tohis "power" or this site if any of these readers got a whiff of duplicity or outright spin? Would the readers joyousdly support anything done by St. Steve?

From the Danish Cartoonists threads... I highly doubt any blog could live through readers/posters feeling used and abused.

"And LowerManhattanite. And RedDan. When I say the entire community. I'm literally meaning the entire community.
"

And that would explain the f*cktard right wing of the "sphere"'s latest game of sport--namely outing and trying to destroy the reputations of outspoken progressive commenters. Ostensibly to wound the "community" before said commenters with a following or any sort of ability can rise from the ranks to pundit prominence. (Unlike the top-downhiera Hey...I ain''t sayin' I'm on the "must silence him" list, but you're right Karmakin...these lacy-drawered punks are scared sh*tless by something wholly out of their control and are effectively land-mining themselves right into a corner with these desperate antics.

That said, I'lll watch my back, more closely monitor the litttle hate e-mails I get every now and then, an of course, stay cagey on the particulars. 'Cause I'm scared as hell of these flailing, b*tch-*ss tricks.

I am just now reading Alterman's What Liberal Media for the first time and the material on TNR is illuminating, to say the least. And that doesn't even include the myriad of TNR transgressions that have come afterward. What a useless bunch of tools they are. And jealous, too. Josh Marshall has a letter up today from some wingnut who's outraged that the NYT sent five reporters to YearlyKos. TNR is as jealous of Kos and his community as is that wingnut because they're working from the same talking points. Same with the Bull(shit) Moose, once and future flip-flopper also known as "Marshall Wittman."

Just make it official, TNR. You really are "The New Republican."

This also looks like when the FBI was ordered to try to promote internecine warfar between various student left groups during the Vietnam anti-war movement. Very transparent.

I think Karmakin sums it up pretty well.

Whoops! Meant to say:

"(Unlike the top-down hierarchy of the right--prone to blog and link-whoring for approval and "lanches" from wingnut blog whales.) The left side seems to have a more meritocracy-based path to blogdom. Commenters often rise to blogger status with more than a little success."

Then...the "Hey...I ain''t sayin' I'm on the "must silence him" ... part was supposed to come.

Clicked out of the damned window too fast...my boss Mr. Soros here at the "compound" we work from, some 340 feet below the New York Streets, was walking by and he nearly busted me posting here instead of transferring the money he asked me to transfer to France and Cuba. Nuts!

Oh sh*t! "gasp!"...I've said...too much!

CK,

Not the place, but the mentality. Washington is the only captial city most of a nation's citizens hate without pause.

American Hawk,

Eacistly? LOL. Is that even a word? What ever it was, it wasn't racist, American Chicken.

anon,

You tried to join BlogAds, not the Network? E-mail me and I'll try to find out why. BlogAds has GOP sites as well.

Amuseinc,

Anyone under that delusion can head up to the WC daily thread. Jesus. People are in your shit on a daily basis. You lie to them, they will jump on you. Honest is enforced by the readers here just like they're doing to TNR at this moment.

It's just projection. How many blogola scandals have we had on the right? The hitblogs on Daschle? Armstrong?

Hello?

This is like Reid's "tickets": the corrupt right is desperate for this to be bipartisan. It isn't. Corruption is the way the right works. It is the right.

Selling laws and controlling content require that the right be run like any other scam. Pinning their slime on us is just another marketing ploy.
.

I've tried for years to join BlogAds, but they won't even respond to me, though they do accept sites with much lower traffic than mine.

Holy fuck. Start your own gig then, for Christ's sake. Get people together and pose an alternative to advertisers, instead of whining about it. There's no law against doing it, nor is there anything wrong with it.

But instead, poor, poor, pitiful you would rather rail against a DIY entity that didn't exist two years ago than get off your ass and do something about it.

Is that too difficult to comprehend? If it is, get the fuck out of the way, 'independent liberal'. Who owes you anything anyway?

Josh Marshall has a letter up today from some wingnut who's outraged that the NYT sent five reporters to YearlyKos.

And what a doozy it is:

Nope, the dead enders appear to be those on the left who despite continuing electoral nightmares continue to cling to the idea that if only they upped the vitriol a couple of quanta they would surely either convince or cow the public into voting for the party of the Murthabots.

You see the problem with that hypothesis is that you really can't heat things up much past where they are now unless that thin line between unreasoning rage and violence is crossed, in which case it's important to remember which philosophical camp owns and knows how to use the guns.

It seems to me that the dead enders are the folks at KOS [5 NYT reporters at the Vegas gig?? absolutelyunbelievable] and Dem Underground, who have no understanding of Islamism and probably wouldn't care if they did, because to them the U.S. is the real enemy and heaven forbid the idea that the United States has the right and obligation to proactively de-Islamize the area of the world from whence the threat has arisen.

Re Fr. Coughlan, not me - its the left who are the anti-Semites.

Steve
The inside the beltway mentality attaches to the place. It is about power, wielding power, stroking power, using power either stolen money or guns to help yours and harm someone elses. It is always with the best intentions of course, to use power on people. We are the government and we are here to help you. It's for your own good. And it will be absolutely no different when the new crop of insider wannabes become insiders and the current crop rotate out to their think tanks, and visiting professorships, and international conference schedules and their "As I Saw It" book tours.
Bring back the clinton crew or the General Clark crew and get a replay of Bosnia and Kosovo ( less deaths but the same people making the money and prosecuting the war) put in the Feingold crew or the Leiberman crew and nothing changes. AIPAC still controls its big $$ spigot and the new ins will ask HOW High as they seal jump for the money.
Let's try this:
Repeal both Patriot Acts ( No Dems voted for either of these)
Repeal the DMCA ( No dems supported or created this )
Repeal the bankruptcy bill ( Not one dem supported this abortion )
Repeal No Child's behind left alone act ( Not one dem backed this travesty )
Repeal the Credit card company protection bill. ( There is no Biden )
Chop the F-22, and the rest of the whiz bang weapons from the budget.
0 out military aid to the middle east totally.... all of them. They want to kill each other ... it's their business. They want to make nice and settle their differences, that's their business too.
Repeal the Homeland Security act and the rest of the security state.
I have not seen any Dumbocrat advocating any of these.
All US troops out of Iraq in 30 days.
Think Hil or Kerry or any of the oh so progressive dems would support that. 30 days gives the other coalition member nations time to get their 200 troops out and still allows us to leave at a slower pace than we arrived and with some tattered dignity.
I am persuaded that you personally have no desire to sup at the hog trough of indsiderness, no desire to wrench the spigot from the cold dead hands of the K street boys and the homophobe, racist, christofascist Extraterrestials who currently masquerade as humans inside the beltway; but I can't say I believe the same about any of the others be they "fighting dems" or "policy wonks" or "rabble rousing progressive voices for change."

in which case it's important to remember which philosophical camp owns and knows how to use the guns.

ooooh....

The right wing, having successfully ducked actually going to a live war against those they consider a desperate enemy, is now vaguely threatening those who dissent against a massive 51% majority, because 'they have the guns'.

Too chickenshit to use them against the dread "Islamicists" on the Arabs' home turf, they can only try to scare other Americans with their pathetic gun fetish.

You're on borrowed time. The right can't even change the dynamic of the country after six years of nearly unfettered rule -- and all you can do is warn us about the ramifications Yearly Kos?

Impressive.

Golly, Mr. Peretz, I really love what you've done to the place. Who needs walls and a roof anyway?

Nearly every one of the wingnut faves has had an anti-Kos dig or two damn near every day since YK ended--"Crazy Eyes" Malkin, Insta-legacy-hire and Captain Spread most notably. So the dwindling circulation-ed Lieberman Letter TNR decided to suck up to the pouty wingnut douchebags with a meringue-light sourced hatchet job making Kos out to be some sort of omnipotent J.J. Hunsecker of the left.

Me: bwahahahahahahaha!
Her: Now what're you looking at?
Me: Huh? Nothing.
Her: Are you looking at teen porn on MySpace again?

They're scared that we're going to do what they couldn't do. And that when we do it, their careers are basically over. So they'd rather hamstring us, and make sure that we lose, than pitch in a hand and actually help to make things better.

I call it "crabs in a basket." I've never tried it, I don't get access to enough crabs, but if you put a dozen crabs in a wicker basket, it's my understanding that if one starts to climb out, the other crabs will try to pull it back down.

I'll stick my neck out and say there is a certain bit of pride, ego and narcissism that goes into blogging. No one likes to be painted as being on the "losing" side, and TNR is definitely on the downhill side of the curve. I've had first-hand witness to the destructiveness of publishing "private" communiques to back up vitriol and accusation - it's a sure sign of the end.

Kos/Armstrong

A pair of crooked touts who have finally been exposed.
See who they work for and see who they back both directly and indirectly.

Start with Brown and Warner

xy:

Nah...let's start with your mother.

Me first!

Nervous GOP cranks in the comments? Nice!!!

We all know why that is.

1. Most GOP sites don't have comments.

2. Most GOP robots can't string two original thoughts together. So they catapult the propaganda.

3. The netroots, and its honest idealism are reaching America, and we the people are pissed off at these GOP thieves.

And finally,

4. The GOP is rapidly coming to the conclusion that the election may not be "close enough" to steal this time. No more darkies to throw off the voter rolls.

So dig in for the fight guys and gals. We may be pleasantly surprised this November.

We have to stay the course, not them.

And yes from the heart of Queens,
Fuck the Fuckin' Yankees.

and just when will the TNR Burn Book be available at Amazon ?

Know what I find ironic? Where was the liberal blogsphere reaction to the apparently similar bogus story about Karl Rove from Truthout.org?

Aren't you all interesting, no, committed to the truth? Aren't you all against character assassination by false stories?

Carl,

Before speaking, it is generally considered wise to know what your fucking talking about.

Do the searches.

You will find that TruthOut got its ass handed to it on a platter, and is essentially considered ruined as far as just about everyone "on the left" is concerned.

Next Hurrah, DailyKos, TalkLeft, FDL...all were suspicious at first glance, and are now openly dismissive of Leopold, Truthout, and Marc Ash and WIll Pitt.

So, next time, read a bit before jumping in and making yourself look like an asshole.

Wow- now this is a timely response. When did that TNR piece come out?

Yesterday.

As for having my e-mail quoted in a subsequent piece in TNR, I will only say that someone violated my confidences, and that TNR's ethics are for shit.

FACT:

No one told TNR to turn ReThug. Cause that's what they are, even before whoring for Joementum.

FACT:

Kaine was stupid and showed his DLC connections when he pulled that ad from Steve's blog. I managed to save that picture of Maryland's Lt. Gov in blackface, cause that's what he is - especially after making up shit about how the students at Morgan State threw Oreos at his ass when he went there to speak. Didn't have shit to say when he insulted students at Johns Hopkins about stem-cell research, either.

FACT:

Kos has gone "Hollywood/Beltway Insider" more than I'd like to see; enough of this centrist BS. I support Kos because of his hatred for the DLC, which I share here: http://www.getridofthedlc.blogspot.com.
As far as Armando goes, here's the deal: how in the hell you're going to take a check from Wal-Mart and then blast them on their policies? It's issues/conflicts of interest like that that has all of Congress turned into a flaming cesspool and no relations to us, the Americans whose taxes pay their friggin' salaries.

Additionally, Armando should have come up with a new screen name if he didn't want to be outed. Plus, as it has been stated on this blog, Armando got into the shit he's been dealing with when Kos gave that SOB front page status. You should have been suspicious of his ass when his signature said "The SCOTUS is Extraordinary". That SOB would belittle, fight with, and basically denigrate any opinion that didn't agree with his own. Screw him.

FACT:

I don't know what's going on with Jerome, but after having a drunk crash into your house, and the insurance companies want to act like the pimps they really are, he doesn't need this additional grief.

All in all, what I see is the blogs spouting ReThug propaganda has drank a gallon of haterade and Kos is getting the brunt of it. But I respect Kos, because at least if you disagree with him, he's not scrubbing your posts, like some "liberal" bloggers we've read.

Political Junkie,

Jerome (Armstrong) and Jeremy (a.k.a. ct who runs the dailykos code base) are two different people.

Pay attention.

Steve,

Who's feeding the emails to TNR?

It's a clash of cultures, no doubt. Rich Lowry was wittering on about how the NR runs at a loss; TNR is no different.

Little political magazines fear their future. They ought to. Even if you think of blogs as vanity presses, they're ones with none of the barriers to entry that come from print.

Finally, on the 'butt-boy' nonsense (and isn't it curious that the gay smears are on the wingnut transom?): I see that Jerome did a great job of ensuring that Yearly Kos people didn't write about their headfuck at Warner's Stratosphere reception. Oh.

Steve, if you look this far down, Gleen has a post stating that apparently you never sent that last email to the list?

If not, why didn't you comment on that earlier? Did it get lost in the shuffle, or was it a forwarded email from another conversation?

Thank you RedDan for the correction. But everything else I said still stands.

Armando is an a-hole who set himself up to be outed. He made public appearances, for Christ's sake, and publicly alluded to his blogging over at DKos. So he has himself to blame if he handed Trevino ammunition to shoot him with.

I wonder how much TNR will pay me for all the emails about the Liberal Advertising Network that occurred last October?

Or maybe the RNC would like them all, for a fatter price.

Having gone back through them, I can now see there's a huge amount of political dynamite there. I've moved them all to CDs and dispersed them to several legal entities in case of my untimely demise. After all, whoever mines this will make Karl Rove look like a third rate operative, since some of the addressees are real power players on the national Democratic scene.

This may not be the opt-in list, but that's even better, since no privacy oaths were sworn to, no secret handshakes, and for all practical purposes, it earns the same protection guarantee that spam is provided.

Now we'll see whether all the parties to it will pay more to keep it quiet or whether Republican operatives will squander the chance of the first big break they could get in the past desultory year.

Let the bidding begin at 50K.

Not much to add here, but remember, we're dealing with the New Republic, which hired *Andrew Sullivan* to edit its pages back when he was a hard-core conservative (can anyone imagine the Weekly Standard hiring Eric Alterman to edit it? Yes, it'd be a massive improvement, but it'd never happen.) And then TNR went and mainstreamed the hate that was "The Bell Curve."

Finally, damnit, Lower Manhattanite, you should have a blog of your own.

Steve-o has been one of the best bloggers and least likely to be termed reactionary. Guilt by association is the purpose. My take on it is that he's being vetted for a serious inside the beltway journalist job.

See also Digby.

TNR fears that kind of competition.
So they're painting with the big brush, far and wide as possible. As Rumsfailed said..."anything related and unrelated."

That's who they take marching orders from in the long run(war vote), and we've seen the big brother go payola overseas(Iraq and London/UK papers, Italy, Murdoch-Berlesconi rags, etc.) Propaganda's chief tactic is to apply your weaknesses towards the enemy. 'Kos is payola,' never mind the poor factcheckers at TNR and their future out of court settlement.
Now do you see who you're up against? Some would even speculate ToIA being used or the NSA line, but Occam's explains it most directly and to the point.

Needless to say one would almost argue the guy is a ratfucker. Everyone knew from the start the shitbags he crossed swords with were untrustworthy. Their own policies reflected scant ethics, one could deduct as much in a brief skim of their blogwork.

Lipstick on a pig at its very best,in this he woke up with the horses' head in his bead. It had on a shade of lipstick that resembles high alert hot colors. Red for his ethical menace, orange for the concern of others about his ethics in comparison to AWOL and Rove, yellow for the color befitting chickenhawks he teamed with.

...not even Holden's ponies can save his poll numbers now, same for TNR who took him down with them. The horse's head is what it is.

The saddest thing was he got scapegoated in the item, by a person who has done his own amount of short selling. Fancy that.

Classic propaganda. Use people who have done worse to go after dirt on others. All the while they are outing every possible profile they can ge their hands on and tryting to insert ratfuckers within the ranks(as did the original posts mentioned back at the start of Jerome's dropping his ID and leaving mydd). It was never about jerome, it was about kos and the larger movement, to the haters.

Meanwhile nobody looks at Frist insider trading, the funding of TNR and other bottomless pits of trust fund media, and the ongoing failure of Iraq where we cannot even secure its capital city and have been asked to leave by the government we helped install.

All that said, it doesn't really matter. This movement will take truth to power as action as need be. So they go after one or two people in the movement, well guess what- they're closer to mainstream than about anyone in the blog action network on either side that has that kind of circulation.

You want to take the people with the closest resemblance to Vichy we have. Is it because you prize Vichy turf and fear that percentile swing or is it because you need the stronger language to develop?

Both.

Guess what- you can take down a person and the movement will advance on its own. It's bigger than kos, the person you want to make it about. In fact kos has downplayed his appearances and turned down more good offers than the right wing bloggers have got in total tot his point.

Dick Cheney threw an awards banquet for journalism this week at the National Press Club and could not dodge the hard questions to the point he ended it early. This was an attempt to revive the tired rank foundation of the Ford days within the beltway and send the message that more sorry hacks and hucksters will become made men.

That meeting forwards the new campaign against kos. Mission Accomplished!

Guess what- the website still gets more hits and moved forward.

As for net neutrality- take the blogs down and we'll act locally to new levels. All that will do is expedite our actions. We took down apartheid at the cash register in another era. The global paradigm will make it even stronger.

We'll hit where it hurts- your pocketbooks.

The demand should be over voting machines. Reid should shut Congress down and go closed session via procedure once again. If we get the right to have votes reflect intent we'll reduce those war barons to pulp. We actually claim a contrapositive payola effect on Armstrong to an extent, but an undisclosed conflict is exactly that. He regrets that fact worse than any of us because he had more to gain. We'll go on and unless a person can cite professional merit of experience or authority on a topic, their words simply reflect what most enraged citizens feel at this point. We're fed up with DeLay,Safavian,Abramoff,Bush, Cheney, etc.

Again, apoliges to you Jerome. Wish we could say better for you. Toodles.
