Yes, it's narrow. And there's a history of reasons not to support Lieberman. But it sets up the criteria that best selects candidates who represent their constituencies: they won an election.

So if AT&T wants to have to get visas for 80% of its research staff, they can go support the Republicans' gutting of American scientific training.
If Lieberman repudiates the Democratic voters who rejected him in the primary, it should follow that the PARTY should call out his attempt at a do-over and say that if he won't abide by the will of the primary voters, he forfeits any rights or benefits as a member of the Senate Democratic Caucus.
Let him drift out there as the Man Without A Party. Let him show himself as a hypocrite, accepting Republican money for the general election days after accepting funds from Democratic donors in the primary.
Let's show the Democratic Party standing in opposition to Bush and ALL those who would rubber-stamp his agenda.

This is getting urgent. Somebody needs to put the hammer to the national Democratic Party, and get them behind Lamont by Labor Day, or he could be in serious trouble, another Phil Angelides, like out here in California.
