Question: despite all the sort of serious effort to categorize, analyze, philosophize and get at the meaning of "it" -- was there anyone who said basically: Jerry would think this is too much navel gazing, he was just there to explore ideas and play music and see where he could go with it, and the fact that there was such a great scene only meant that others had figured out that the Dead were indeed finding and following the beauty in the path they were traveling on, not much more than that. How did people "rebut" the "it's just us guys playing music" blow-off that Jerry often espoused when asked about it all? Jerry always said he wasn't the band's leader, always eschewed politics, never let *anything* be said from the stage apart from "we'll be right back after a short break" to insulate the band and the music from politics.
