Gravatar I love The Philadelphia Story. It's one of my favorite movies. You should watch it!

Gravatar I love it too. All that fast talking and it has both Cary Grant and Jimmy Stewart.

Gravatar i have never seen bridget jones...

i have this dramella in chinese that is supposed to be china's version of sex and the city...and it is very racy by chinese standards...lot's of intense kissing and such, all the fun plot lines (very very parallel) but you never see the sex...it's very entertaining...but brainbedamned the chinese is so fast!

Gravatar ohhhhhhh you need a bridget fix.

Are there subtitles to the chinese dramella? Cause I'm down with subtitles

Gravatar So Fricking True, Your Majesty.

Philadelphia Story was screaming for a nice polyamorous (quad) ending, doncha think? One of my absolute favorite films, though I cannot gloss over some of the glaringly obnoxious moments.

Also interesting in terms of strong career women is another Hepburn sojurn into fabulosity: Woman of the Year. The ending is also a surprise, suggesting a division of household labor between husband and wife. Who woulda thought?

Gravatar Oh I hated the ending of Woman of the year. She was so feisty and fabulous, and she ends up cooking eggs? But I loved the rest of it.

His Girl Friday is fun too. And the one most often mentioned in the linked article- It happened one night- pure awesomeness.

Yes, Philadelphia story needed some menage a 4 action. Someone should totally make a porn based on it.

Gravatar One more exception- Kate Winslet in eternal sunshine. She has her issues but she is far from her modern killjoy sisters

Gravatar you can get it w/ subtitles...hahah...since mine is already pirated, i will see if i can find it and re-pirate

Gravatar RQ, I've a film junkie/buff, and my favorite single genre is probably screwball comedy. It's also why I like Much Ado About Nothing so much more than Taming of the Shrew - Much Ado has all the sparks and banter, without the sexism (at least in the leads).

There was a great radio piece on this I'll try to dig up, but I believe it was an interview with the woman who wrote Fast-Talking Dames or something like that. They talked about how women in romantic comedies have gotten so much weaker, and played some great examples.

Gravatar Much ado about nothing is great, like the original fast talking dame! i love the one with Emma Thompson, she's an awesome Beatrice.

I think I need to curl up with a giant stack of movies this weekend.

Gravatar Bringing Up Baby, the original and the best.

Katharine Hepburn un-fuddyduddies Cary Grant, at their hottest and most fun.

I've never seen the appeal of perpetual adolescence. That was a state I couldn't wait to leave behind. Probably why I never dated until I get older... and then what I look for was Men. Not children.

Gravatar "Susan, Susan, Susan" Cary grant as a dorky zoologist- uhmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

I'm gonna go put my dirty thoughts away now.
