The socks look lovely to this knitting ignoramus. I have the greatest respect for you and all of the knitters out in the internet and the world in general. As far as I am concerned, knitting should be one of the major designing Arts. I don't know how you do it, but I am so very happy that you do - all of you. Thanks!

Thanks so much for sharing this pattern. I love cables and have some solid sock yarn I've been wanting to use. This just may be the winning pattern!

Marguerite - thanks again for sharing your wonderful sock patterns. With the cool weather coming this may get me knitting socks again. Huge sigh - if I can find the time. School's started for me and quality knitting time is harder to come by. But the directions are copied and safely stowed in my knitting notebook for future use. Thanks!

I'm not a regular reader of your blog; I was led here by a link on another blog. I just wanted to tell you that the knitting job on these socks is beautiful! The stitches looks so neat and even and the socks have a great shape. They look like they are storebought (and I mean that as a compliment). You did such a great job that I am tempted to try a pair myself, even though my knitting isn't that even. Thanks for offering the pattern!

I've had the cuffs knitted for these socks for several weeks. I needed to upsize for my fat ankles, (I just turned the K2 into K3) and I've got two and a half pattern repeats done. Great sock to work on while watching Hurricane Katrina. Glad to hear that Sunny is on the mend. Photos to follow on my blog. Thanks for another great pattern.

Thank you for another wonderful pattern! Now I have to make a decision: another Old Shale 2-Color pair, or a pair of More Fun Than Cables????

I'm knitting this up right now (using Trekking XXL) and I ADORE it, just about ready to work the heel.
I'd like to submit a correction though: For Rounds 2 and 5 of the cable stitch, you don't need that last yo before the p. I mean, technically, you kind of yo to get ready to purl I guess, but that line made me pause and think about it.

This is a great pattern. The simplicity of the sock - yet the ease with which it is knit gives a break to the more difficult patterns I tend to pick out. This is outstand ing and you are vaery gracious to share all your patterns with us. I bought the yarn for the shale pattern in solid red and a mottled red colorway in Lorna's Lace Shepherd Sock yarn. Then I got ill and now I am finally catching up with your patterns. Thanks ever so much for your site!

Thank you so much Marguerite for your generosity of sharing your knowledge and your fabulous sock pattern.
When I saw your More Fun than Cables sock pattern, I instantly fell in love! I had been trying to knit socks for a long time and was really struggling with the heel (I was teaching myself). Your pattern is so simple to follow, very user-friendly.
So these socks were my very first socks I knit...EVER. So this pattern has a very special significance for me.
I also knit the Shetland Lace Rib socks and loved that sock pattern too!
Keep up the beautiful knitting!
