Hey Gini... My mom makes fish curry in an earthern pot too... & the taste is unbeatable. I guess she followed this age old traditions from my grandmothers.. Good one... On my visit to India, I am definitely planning to get this along with me...

My prize purchase from Kerala is a roadside-purchased unglazed pot for cooking fish curry. I carried it back well-wrapped and have been enjoying it since.

The chatti looks real cool. my Dad bought one similar looking chatti to make appam.
Btw, here's how to make filter coffee. Put the coffee powder (not instant type) on the top and pour half a cup of boiling hot water. After 15-20 mins, you can see coffee decoction at the bottom container. Heat milk separately and mix sugar. this should be very hot to begin with. Add the decoction in small quantity and stir once before serving.
HTH!
