That's not entirely true S,,, "Infidels" are technically anyone other than "people of the book". Infidels are given the option of sword or conversion. People of the book are given the options of sword, conversion or poll tax. That's why there are still enclaves of Christians and Jews in the middle east... according to the koran. The Haddiths, regarding the end times, perhaps have different ideas.

Gravatar I have to disagree. "People of the Book" are Christians and Jews, and they are infidels. Yes, they are given the option to live as Dhimmis, paying a steep tax and living as second class citizens under humiliating conditions among the Muslims. I wouldn't call that "placating" the Muslims, since the Muslims can remove the Dhimmi status whenever they choose and begin the slaughter, as they did against the Armenians in the early part of the 20th century.

Gravatar Oh, one more thing. Dhimmi status is actually a slower eradication than slaughter, but its goal is to slowly kill out the Christians and Jews. There are remnants of once flourishing Christian and Jewish populations among the Muslims, but those populations have been seriously eroded over time. I stand by my post.
