I'm not ungrateful to HE for this. I'm grateful, really! I just wonder when he's going to start writing to my Parish Priest and tell him that, instead of giving interviews and doing video introductions. Am I hoping for too much?

This is great news. However, it really is a message that should be given directly to seminaries and houses of formation in a more explicit manner. The seminary that I belong to has regular X4 Masses, but many of the men take a rather "just put up with it" attitude, or even a "my bishop does not want this" attitude. Echoing the point that Anonymous is making above, I would say that the impending clarification cannot come too soon, especially if we want current priest candidates to be familiar with celebrating the Mass and Sacraments of the X4. In the meantime, this FSSP/EWTN video will be of great help in responding to the wishes of our Holy Father.

Excuse me. We refer to the EF as X4 at Kenrick, that is, the EXtraordinary Form of the One Roman Rite. If you take the first letters of each major word it spells EX-FORR. We adopted this custom before everyone settled on EF. Sorry for the confusion.

No problem, Anthony, I think we did understand you ;-) And many of us keep Kenrick-Glennon in their prayers.

The introduction provides a good insight into the mind of the Cardinal and by extension that of the Holy Father.

So where is it? You can't even find a novus ordo mass in the archdiocese of Philadelphia that has the proper chants? The more people talk like this without providing anything to show for it the more insulting it becomes. We are left to beg and to be ignored by clergy. I am sorry, but that is mean, not an act of graciousness. If a parish has five novus ordo masses on sunday then at least one of them should have the proper sung instead of the evangelical hymns. The proper can be played on the organ by simply plunking out single notes to accompany the chant. The mass would have a totally different feeling. Why can't every parish have just ONE mass with the proper chants?

There are actually interesting moves afoot. I heard of at least one cathedral that recently asked for a Fraternity priest to celebrate a mass on Sunday.
Also, hopefully, the next generation of priests should be better in this regard.
