Gravatar Requsecant in Pace. Amen.

Gravatar Thank you for posting this.Little has appeared,as far asI know about his Requiem. Has anyone seen a copy of the sermon or any tributes ? Alan Robinson

Gravatar Was Dom Gerard interred in a floor vault?

Gravatar The mitred personage on the right of the photo looks rather like a typical French prelate - no cincture, arms by his side, looks as if he feels out of place. I hope I'm wrong.

God rest the soulof Dom Gerard.

Gravatar He was buried behind the mail altar of the Church, yes.

Gravatar The Quadripartite Absolution! How moving!

Gravatar Does anyone know which bishop, abbots were in attendance? I'm assuming the Bishop of the diocese was in attendance and obviously the abbot of Barroux would be the celebrant. What of the Abbot of Fontgombault?

Gravatar Alan Robinson, and Chris, et all.....it seems the Abbot of Fontgombault wasnt a Celebrant, but that dosnt mean he wasn't there. one can also find the funeral-leaflet, and sermons/speeches etc at.

His funeral was held Monday, March 3 in the presence of a crowd of nearly a thousand worshippers and friends. The Mass was celebrated by our abbot and the Final Absolutions were given by Bishop Cattenoz, archbishop of Avignon,. Dom Courau, abbot of N.D Triors (abbot and visitor to our community),. Dom Joel, current abbot of Tournay,. Dom de Lesquen, abbot Randol emeritus of which had played an important role in the canonical recognition of the community, and finally by our Abbot Dom Louis-Marie.
Also present were Cardinal Panafieu, Archbishop Emeritus of Marseilles, William Bishop, Bishop Emeritus of Saint-Dié, abbots or representatives of many other monasteries and institutes friends wre present.

Monsignor Perl, came express from Rome, was carrying a special message from the Secretariat of State in which the Holy Father Benedict XVI, associating himself with our grief, we are informed that "He remembers that Dom Gérard has spent most of its existence turned towards the Lord, to praise God and to guide his brothers in prayer so that all are still closer to our Creator and Savior. He gives thanks for the attention of Dom Gerard to the beauty of the Latin liturgy, known to be ever more source of communion and unity in the Church ".
