And afterward, once again, Archbishop Piero Marini will be available for a book signing!

OH MY! I would love to be there for that Mass. I wonder if it would loosen the grip on the extraordinary rite, since the UK bishops has not been too friendly relaxation of the extraordinary.

Just booked my flights for this. Who would have thought two Ryanair flights at 99 cent each would work out at 68 euro. Anyway, this will be very nice.

BTW:
Archbishop Vincent Nichols of Birmingham is VERY friendly to the TLM, and he's supposedly in the running for Westminster. He's been very, very good to both Oratorian houses in his diocese (Birmingham and Oxford).

Maybe he can teach the good Cardinal Archbishop to celebrate the TLM himself. A Roman Catholic bishop should be required to be able to do so, that is, if you want the bishop to be a good shepard to all of his flock. Tom

The good Cardinal is no friend of the TLM, and has never gone out of his way to make it more available, having said that when is his 75th??

Wonderful, I wish I could be there. If only the LMS could spell the cardinal's name correctly: Darío Castrillón, the accents are not mere decorations. I know that must be hard to grasp in a language which does not have diacritical signs, but still...

I hope this is made available as a DVD afterwards. It would be an excellent resource to have. I have only ever witnessed one Solemn Pontifical High Mass, but the rubrics and ceremony were a bit meagre and the Bishop was a newbie. I look forward the Cappa Magna. Nothing infuriates modernists like a nice long Cappa Magna! :-)

I do find the idea of celebrating Mass at 2pm after lunch a bit curious (and of course less than traditional), but that aside it ought to be a wonderful occasion. The Cathedral Choir are one of the finest in the world and will add much to a wonderful occasion.

Knight of Our Lady:
If you want to see a cappa magna, come to St. Louis, it is used with great regularity by one of the finest bishops in Christendom.

Not fair,
Westminster Diocese and Cardinal Murphy O'Connor have been very welcoming to the TLM since the MP, even if the Cardinal has chosen not to celebrate it himself.

This is WONDERFUL news. Deo Gratias!
Julian Chadwick is right, this represents the answer to many English Catholics' prayers.
Let the Bard himself lead our joyous victory song, as at Agincourt:
"Do we all holy rites:
Let there be sung 'Non nobis' and 'Te Deum'"
Amen!

LOL I think after a Mass like that, he'll be pretty lonely with only the sound of crickets chirping.

Heh-heh. Wishful thinking, but not in this Church. Maybe down the line but not right now.

Yes, true, but since in English we don't use them, so we're not going to make the effort because our keyboards are not set up for them, nor are the general capabilities of the average blog.

Has the great Westminster Choir announced what Mass they will sing? If it's the Papae Marcelli I'm booking a flight immediately.

Gotta tell ya...whether Westminster Choir sings or not, whatever they sing, the ceremonies and music at the London (Brompton) Oratory is worth a plane trip, period!!! Seriously, a "MUST" experience if you are even remotely near London! It's right up from Knightsbridge about a block from Harrod's. The Rembrandt Hotel across the street is also pretty reasonably priced for London.

The Mass will not be sung by the full Cathedral Choir. The choir school website (www.choirschool.com) lists the following activity for the boys on Saturday, June 14:
Associated Board Theory Exams, 10.00 am;
Probationer visiting, 11.00 am – 8.00 pm;
Chorister visiting 2.30 – 8.00 pm or chorister activity: Trip to Hyde Park and guided tour of the Shrine of The Sacred Heart and The Tyburn Martyrs.
