I have said this over and over, but Pope Benedict is the greatest blessing the church has had in a long time.
We must always pray for his and his brothers health and longevity.

Beautiful. That picture alone shows how far we have come in regards to the Sacred Liturgy. I am no JPII-basher. In fact, he deeply influenced me as a hero. However, this pontiff in THIS picture reveals another side of the Good Shepherd that we desperately need today: the reform of the Sacred Liturgy in Continuity. The chair- the cope- the miter- the crozier: all of these were not seen for some time now. Blessed be God in His holy Pontiff, Benedict XVI!

Very Nice - pity the tiara on the cathedra isn't on top of his head. Probably the only thing that could improve the photo.

Let us pray for our Pope Benedict XVI
V: Oremus pro Pontifice nostro BENEDICTO DECIMO SEXTO.
R: Dominus conservet eum, et vivificet eum, et beatum faciat eum in terra, et non tradat eum in animam inimicorum eius.
V: Fiat manus tua super virum dexterae tuae
R: Et super filium hominis quem confirmasti tibi
Oremus. Deus, ómnium fidélium pastor et rector, fámulum tuum Benedíctum, quem pastórem Ecclésiæ tuæ præésse voluísti, propítius réspice: da ei, quæesumus, verbo et exémplo, quibus præest, profícere: ut ad vitam, una cum grege sibi crédito, pervéniat sempitérnam. Per Christum, Dóminum nostrum. Amen.

I think this is the first time we see the ferula of Bl. Pius IX and the throne of Leo XIII TOGETHER at the same ceremony. Wonderful!
Regarding the cope: Yes, it is magnificent. But I remember that exactly one year ago, at this same ceremony, we saw an even nicer cope, also from Tridentinum. Pity that one wasn't used this time. This cope (and matching dalmatics) was used for the penitential service with the roman youths before Holy Week this year. But it is worth noticing that on neither of those liturgies we saw such details as the red backdrop behind the throne or the five red-carpeted steps. So overall, it is a big improvement!
