[NB: these are the "Guides et Scouts d'Europe de la Fédération du Scoutisme Européen, not to be confused with the KPE Catholic Scout Movement of Europe of Fr Hönisch]
I think this is not entirely correct, the one is just the French part of the UIGSE and the other one the German part (see here).
The KPE wouldn't even exist, if some German scouts wouldn't have met some french Scouts d'Europe by accident, which makes this whole affair even more bizarre and sad.
What I don't understand is that the Chartres pilgrimage is full of French Scouts and I always assumed those were Scouts d'Europe.

B. - you are right, perhaps I was not precise enough: what I meant is that this is the French association as opposed to the German divison of Fr Hönisch.

Ist't there a French scouting movement for young people in France which is affiliated to the SSPX, and is fairly large membership wise.
If I remember correctly, they sponsor a huge pilgrimage to Chartres every Summer which draws 30,000+ people.
Not to be outdone, the FSSP and Ecclesiae dei communities began to organize the same type of youth groups, and they competed with the SSPX for years with their seperate pilgrmages to Chartres.

I read a book about the Liturgical Movement a few weeks ago which praised the French Scouting movement for ushering in simplified rubrics and the Mass in the vernacular.

This is good news. The French scouts, especially those of the Riuamont chapter and Fontgombault always had the Tridentine Mass as part of their charism and spirituality. I am also pleased because as recently as last year, they were being told by Episcopal Conference of France to drop the Tridentine Mass and say the Novus Ordo. How odious and self-aggrandizing these bishops are. This was just before Summorum Pontificum was released. Now with the Motu Proprio and Cardinal Castrillion-Hoyos encouraging the Usus Antiquior, the Scouts can get back to being themselves. Their dedication to France and the Church is greatly admirable. God bless them!!
