Your intention was remembered in my prayers this morning, and votive candles burn before icons of Our Lady and St. Benedict (on my home altar) for their intercession.

Forgive my ignornance... but how do you pray for a particular intention if you don't know what that is?
This is the 2nd or 3rd time I've seen this from this website. I'll be happy to pray for anyone's intention... it just seems strange when you don't know what it is...
Any thoughts on this would be helpful.

A good question. God is not limited by your knowledge. God knows the details of Mr. Tribe's prayer request. All that you have to do is ask Jesus and the Blessed Mother to hear Mr. Tribe's prayer and, in their loving kindness, present it to the Father.
Of course it is true that God is eternal and unchanging, therefore his mind cannot be "changed" by your supplications. But it is also entirely likely that God, from all eternity, intended that your own prayer would play a key role in his divine plan to answer Mr. Tribe's prayers.
Best plan: pray an Our Father, a Hail Mary and a Glory be. Say to God, "I offer them for Mr. Tribe's intentions."
