Gravatar Not exactly an inditement of free speech there by the goons then.

Mind you the other video shown of the crowd demonstrating is not exactly in their favour either

Gravatar So much for the Democrats reversing the policies of George W.

http://www.amconmag.com/article/...3/dec/15/00012/

Gravatar I never expected the Democrats to reverse the policies of Bush. Each side has their big government agenda with a slightly different emphasis on what they want to regulate and control most. When they take over from the other they find they like having the powes of the previous administration so they rarely repeal any of them.

People look at politics as a pendulum swinging back and forth between right and left. That is not bad. Now imagine Lady Liberty standing in the center and get smacked regardless of which way it swings. That pretty much illustrates the state of affairs.

Gravatar Someone said "Not exactly an inditement of free speech there by the goons then"
I don't know what prompted this kind of response but I just have one question for whoever wrote this statement...I was a police officer for over 30 years and I can tell you there is no reason for such behavior and there is no law on any book in any state that allows red neck brain dead slime balls like these to victimize unarmed people in public places for expressing their constitutional rights simply by putting a badge on their chest. Every one of these jerks are guilty of assault to various degrees and should be held accountable for their crimes. When people start rationalizing this kind of fascism away as "normal" or "deserved" you had better back up and think about it...it could and will be you or your family sooner or later these terrorist are terrorizing!

Gravatar The police chief has to go! He is ultimately responsible for the training and discipline of his officers and he is sadly remiss in his duty. Replace him with someone who will demand adherence to the laws and the Constitution and you won't have any more problems with out of control police.

Gravatar This sort of thing makes me want to leave this country. I am no longer proud to live in this country.

Gravatar The stuff surrounding the RNC is pretty awful as well. Apparently it is now illegal to plan a peaceful protest when one disagrees with an ideology despite what your first amendment rights say otherwise.

Three artists went to Minneapolis to document the RNC and police actions at the RNC. Their equipment (laptops, papers, cell phones, etc.) was taken by police, citing "criminal trespass on railroad yard".

A few homes and a convergence center were raided Friday and Saturday:

This site has videos and some coverage on it:

This page has a video documenting the raid on the convergence center (with a story):

Gravatar The police in these RNC stories probably do have a valid trigger event that (whether appropriate or not) justifies their actions. It only takes one bottle being thrown through the air at a police officer for the police to squelch a demonstration.

The ABC news guy was blocking the entrance to the hotel, and the hotel repeatedly asked him to move his tripod and camera equipment so that guests of the hotel could enter and exit without having to use another entrance.

As for the home invasion searches, people need to start looking at the names of the judges that are signing these fruitless search warrants and holding them accountable for their perpetuation of the police state that we all despise.

Gravatar Jacob: No mention was made of the RNC arrrests you refer to in the first sentence. The previous post had been written here before any of that happened.

I was in Denver not long ago and walked past the Brown Palace. It is not possible for one man or even a man with a cameraman to block the entrance to the hotel. I believe that what I saw showed the police protecting the entrance and the reporter was several feet away from the entrance. I also doubt your claim that the camera was on a tripod. I've been in enough interviews with news crews to know they almost NEVER have tripods but shoulder-held cameras. And the footage of the event, from the ABC cameraman shows clearly that it was shoulder-held not on a tripod. That is how the cameraman was able to follow the policeman as he pushed the reporter into traffic!

Gravatar And pigs wonder why everyone hates them.

When pigs ask for money for their unions, just say no. Join City Council. Do not give them pay raises.

This police state must stop. Now.

These pigs are goons.

Gravatar I don't know if this is common, or if it is just a few bad apples, but when stuff like this happens, it gives all law enforcement officers a bad name.

I wonder how they would feel if it had been their wife or daughter that was clubbed and then arrested for peacefully answering a reporters questions?

I am seeing more and more of this type behavior and it is very disturbing. If we are not quickly moving towards a police state, then the law enforcement community needs to publicly denounce, and punish each and every officer who commits this type behavior.

Gravatar Former officer Ken Owens is correct in his characterization of these simple-minded bull-necked jackasses in uniform. As a retired sheriff with forty-three years of service, fifteen of which was as a municipal police officer and twenty-eight years as a duly elected sheriff, I can tell you that there are many reasons for the fact that we now have a over-plus of these sadistic fascistic assholes in law enforcement.

First of all once they are hired you can't get rid of them no matter how sadistic and corrupt of character they are. Public Employee Unions, civil service statutes and peer support make it virtually impossible to fire them.

Secondly, agencies have to select from a new crop of warm bodies that have been hatched, but not raised, no guiding principles have been instilled in them. They are selfish morons completely devoid of any grace, compassion, values, or integrity. It is a new breed and a dangerous breed. Law Enforcement Officers, and I use the term lightly, now brutalize, terrorize, bully and murder almost at will. If these are the best society has to offer we are in a world of hurt.
