*This cost our family more than $250,000 so far (vs. $100,000 in your earlier story)
*We understand fully that the average citizen couldn't have afforded this level of defense and would have been at the mercy of a public defender (and probably end up with jail time)

Jeanne: Actually what I said was that based on what I had read I was sure you had to spend at least $100,000 if not much more than that. I suspected it could be up to $300,000 based on what I read but, not knowing the actual amount, thought it best to be conservative in the estimate but make it clear that I thought it was probably much more.
But it is shocking you should have had to spend anything to keep your son free. I am glad you were able to do it. I pity those who aren't.
