"Greens" that eat meat aren't. What is the carbon impact from walking on calories not gotten from meat vs. the cost of driving? I bet walking wins out.

Exactly how is the author of this blog showing a "lack of knowledge" by reporting precisely what a prominent British Green has said. Surely, Robert, if you have a beef (sorry about the pun) then it is with the person being quoted not the person quoting him.

To use a car as a cleaner device seems to completely miss the whole millions of grams of carbon it took to make the vehicle in the first place. There is absolutely no way that you can ever compare the huge carbon deficit created by manufacturing a car and the simple profoundly easy exercise of walking. Between digging up the coal, the iron, making the steel, the plastic, the paint and all of a hundred thousand or so odd parts of a car and then burning polluting fuel to power the huge carbon deficit you created, you are now in an enormous carbon deficit when compared to walking. Further the simple act of walking can keep your ass from being fat so maybe just maybe you will not be a lazy fat American.
