I think you have this backward, at least as far as most people are concerned. Armchair theology is taken surprisingly seriously by the general public, but armchair economics won't get you anywhere unless you have your own right-wing radio talk show.

Chris: You seem to imply that truth and reality are determined by popular vote. Theology is made up theories about an imaginary being. Exactly how does that tell us anything about life in this world?
