Gravatar I don't know any anti-Mexican folks and I don't know any anti-immigrant folks. But I know a hell of a lot of anti illegal immigrant folks. And since most illegal immigrants seem to come from Mexico or central america, I can see where a person might get confused and erroneously call such persons anti Mexican or anti immigrant, but they would be wrong.

But since Mexicans can enlist in the US armed forces and acquire citizenship thereby, presumably a person might likewise achieve citizenship by performing a public act of courage, such as Hernandez'.

It's easy to be against floods of illegals swamping limited US employment. When a person stands out in this or other ways, most people will make exceptions. But with a first name like Jeremy, something tells me this pobrecito is already somewhat anglicized.

Gravatar Ruggian: You Lilliputian knowledge of economics is truly astounding. You see job markets as static and don't see how immigrants increase the supply of jobs. No, it's not immediately apparent but little good economics is that simplistic. This blog has covered those arguments in the past. Immigrants, legal or illegal, have the same impact on the economy and the net impact is positive.

You seem to think that government approval creates wealth. But it doesn't mattter if the immigrant has state permission to immigrate or not. The economy can't tell. Net benefits outweight net costs in both cases.
