"People like Root and Barr..."
Who are they? I can't find those names mentioned anywhere in the article.

I've wondered all my life how people know who GOD is? Has he or she ever made an appearance that can be verified?
I think not and if no one has ever seen GOD how in the fuck can you know what "GODS PLAN" is.
I grew up around this shit most of my life in the deep south. I asked the question many times and was either looked at like an idiot or my life was threatened.
I love the south and I love the people but I'll tell you, if there is a GOD, he is going to do some ass kicking in the south when he / she shows up.
I don't disbelieve there is a GOD. I'm just still waiting to hear from or see him / her / it.
Ya'll wants me to b'lieve then you'ns got ta show me mutha fucka. Let's fucking see it. Where is GOD? Let he/ she / it tell me of "GODS PLAN".
Until I see that happen I think every one ought to STFU about GOD and GODS PLAN.

I apologize for going off topic, but after hearing about Barr, Root, and similar "Libertarians" here I took a look at the LP website. Did anyone look at "Libertarian" Imperato? He's proposing the Federal Government tax the drug companies to force them to pay for a national health care system run by "we the people." He's going to outlaw most charitable giving, and make it legal to to donate only to Social Security. He'll have the federal government develop alternative energy and then equally distribute it throughout the Americas.
His solution to illegal immigration is imaginative: the federal government will promote labor unions in Latin America.
OK, he's insane and a simpleton. But he's also listed prominently on the LP website.
It's a shameful thing, because genuine libertarianism is a profound body of thought -- with very strong intellectual and moral arguments behind it. The LP, OTOH, seems to be developing into a carnival of unsavory clowns.

Imperato is crazy, and I mean that literally. He is going nowhere and has no support within the Libertarian Party, which is why I have not mentioned him. Root and Barr do, including support at the top levels, and that is very troubling.

Sure, he's clearly a nut, but why would they even list him on their site?
While he's obviously too goofy to realize it himself, he's explicitly advocating socialism.

Charles: I think the listings are fund raising gimmicks and I don't like them. But it's not my party any more so I'm not worried.
If you think Imperator was crazy, and he was, then what do you say of Barr getting up on stage with the lunatic in order to get his endorsement?
