What is there that ever gave Barr even a vague claim to "libertarian" in the first place? I just cannot fathom this.
I wonder if he will add his voice to the condemnation of "liberal courts" in the CA same sex marriage decision.
I went to Barr's website and signed on so I could email him a message, gist of which is that he's not a libertarian and should drop out of the race. I also checked the box giving him permission to share my comments with LP convention delegates (fat chance).
I suggest other libertarians send Barr similar messages.

Great. I hope a lot of LP people read it. I'm told that attendance is now up to about 800. And people who haven't gone for awhile are showing up. I hope this is because the real libertarians are waking up and getting upset by this attempted coup.
Are you going to the convention? I hope so. If there's anything I might do in support (I can't attend) let me know... e.g. I have free time and could blog a longer essay or two, if that helped. I am not sure I have any LP readers at all, though.
Charles: The best thing I think you can do is to call the local LP leadership in your state and voice your concerns. At this point it is the delegates who need to hear this.

Do you realize you have a "Bob Barr for President" ad banner at the top?
I don't have control over that. But if he wants to waste his money that's fine. I assume that any clicks on it from here generate an income redistribution from him to me. That's better than his normal campaign donations which go to conservative Republicans working against the Libertarian Party.
Thanks for continuing to debunk this fellow; I continue to be thankful that my present situation and commitments have made it impossible for me to attend this time around. I am expecting an even bigger LP watershed than the one in 1983, and either the dissolution of the experiment or a rebirth (there or elsewhere?) with a much smaller base than in some time.
If it is any comfort I am learning of people planning to attend who previously had not been planning to go. And most seem unhappy about Barr and Root and want to see them stopped. Let us hope they are successful.
