Doesn't surprise me much about AC. I think they're a bit overrated, though I like the earlier releases. What happened to that material? It was truly out there; tongued its own words...completely bizarre...and **cute** at the same time. I think they've become a lot less interesting w/ Sung Tongs.
Still need to see Black Dice live to be convinced.
btw..don't mean to sound negative about Black Dice...would really just like to see them live to make up my mind. 
...I'm not so far off your map there. I think the development from the loopy noise witchery of the earlier stuff, which I felt was more prominent than the newer pop stuff at this show, is an interesting one. I think had I gone in more expecting that earlier, free-form Krautrocky thing I'd have felt more satisfied. Black Dice never really grabbed me before now on record. That being said, the live show played a lot like their records, extended moments of tedium followed by astounding noise-swells that had me thinking of the greats and truly enamoured of the splendor of sound.

yes, but there's something about them that is so aggro rhythm obsessed at times, that it can be hard to take in big doses. But I assume MBV displayed a similar violence circa 1990.
