I've been preaching "On the Beach" for a week straight now. Pretty nice thematic summary, Old Bull, but you've made me curious about what you refer to as the losing "moral/human struggle fought in" one's music.

Nick Drake's Pink Moon is a beautiful monument to a dying soul (or flower). Had he not died, maybe I'd not think that, but almost every song is about losing something-- love, essence...hope.
